I know there are good Republicans, even good Conservatives. It's so hard to remember that when I read about a bill that would help prevent child marriage not passing a two-thirds majority vote. Why did it not pass? Because the idea started to circulate that the bill would somehow fund abortion. Even if it did do that, this would likely fund abortions for girls too young to safely deliver a baby.
A bill that could save girl's lives wasn't passed because anti-abortionists would rather see children- no, young girls die giving birth to products of rape by older, richer men than... well, support a bill that could prevent child marriage.
I don't know entirely how the bill works, but the members at unfunnybusiness concluded the bill likely addressed foriegn aid and helping victims of underage marriage. It passed approval in the Senate by a unanimous vote, apparently.
Back on subject: What the fuck? What piece of shit of humanity can justify voting against a bill to prevent child marriage, regardless of any stipultions of abortion? If it were even in the bill, it'd apply to underage girls who were likely raped and impregnated, and who may not be able to endure a pregnancy to term safely. That is pure and utter bullshit. These utter wastes of skin are saying that breathing humans matter less than a being who cannot survive out of the womb, who is the product of a girl's pain and suffering, who will likely kill it's mother before it could even be viable.
I'm tempted to excerise my Second Amendment Right and find each and every person who voted against the bill.
