The only way I've discovered of avoiding the actual system here is pretending it doesn't exist. Working within gangs and such... might be more counter productive than you'd think.

Because you're acting within their expectations. They'll eventually catch on to you, and crack down on you, because you're inmates acting like inmates. Ignore the division, ignore the authority, and it's not there. Treat inmates like wardens and wardens like other inmates. See where you get.

Then you've got a decent approach.

I just tend not to bother with inter-inmate politics or that kind of thing. It's worked out badly for me before. So I have a decent amount of 'associates' in both.
