fresh baked bread

Apr 12, 2008 23:29

there was light, and he said,
let there be bread. and he was wrong,
because the bread was not, and the tin did rust,
and the birds did sing, and the rain fell,
and the sundry cats and rats in flats did run about merrily.

let there be bread, he said,
and nobody was hungry.
but there was bread, and fresh, and baked with loving care,
and heavy as a stone in his stomach.
for the bread
was mighty
as tasty.
