Pre-College rant

Aug 16, 2004 23:28

The past few days have been amusing. lol~ too bad I didn't start hanging out with people until the last week before I go to Virginia Tech. Life is so simple right now. However, I know for sure that I will be very busy in college so life will be hectic and complex. I guess I did not realize how thankful I am to have a great family and GREAT friends. You guys have always found ways to cheer me up, to encourage me and amuse me with jokes. haha yes! I know I am guillible sometimes. Even though, I have not gotten to know some of you guys better, all of you have influenced me to have an open mind towards others. I recall being so reserved, timid, and shy that I was limited in talking to a couple of people and incessantly hearing my mother's lectures about the need to have a social life. Back then, I refused to meet new people and try new things because I was comfortable in my shell. Now that I have gotten to meet new people and see new places and have experienced true friendships, I am so grateful to see the world in a new perspective. Nevertheless, there is still something that keeps bothering me. I have a duty to fulfill which takes spiritual devotion in constant prayer and reading the Bible. My mission is possible to accomplish yet I cower in fear of facing the duty of leading others to Christ. Maybe its because my relationship with God is not good. I have been struggling with balancing my time to spend with God. I really hope that I set my priorities straight in college. Sorry about this talk.. it probably bothers a lot of you. Anyways, back to the pre-college rant!

Here is some advice for you guys!(haha take it or leave it! I just that it would help some of you guys!)

- have an open mind(colleges are diverse) and respect others.
-Get really involved in college! Join some clubs/sports/fellowships that interest you.
- be assertive! Just say "NO" when your peers are trying to get you to do something that you don't want to do. It does not matter whether or not you are classifed as cool or uncool.
- Make a diverse group of friends! do not get too involved in one clique. Try to expand your borders so you get to know other kinds of people.
- time management is key! balance your college life with studying, social life, activities, cleaning time, etc.
- Take flip flops to college!(yikes~! the floors are dirty! esp. the shower place.)
- DO NOT procrastinate! (Yes! I sound like my mom again.)
- maintain common courtesty! haha be mindful of others.
** lol.. I cannot think of anything else right now. Lets keep in touch even as we go to different colleges! May God bless you!
