Haha, it figures that I'd choose the end of winter break to write out a second LJ entry. (Which means the first wasn't just an aberration/fluke in my incredibly long history of internet homelessness/stalking/possession? XD) But I always worry about not having anything of interest to say, so in writing out a long summary entry, hopefully someone will be able to find something of interest in my rambling.
Just got back from dropping my grandfather off at the airport for his flight back home, so today's an end in more than one way...
In school-related news, first semester was almost awesome. Much better than freshman year. I got a very little bit better at time management, actually completed things on time (or even early), made some new school friends despite my new, more complicated living situation, and just, in general, did not completely fail at life. More on this if I feel like it, or if anyone is actually interested.
MMRPG is made of shiny win and stars and everything good and beautiful in the universe. Including zombies. Much love to you three. f(O_o)f! &hearts All the pretty pretty PBs, dogs with frighteningly cheerful expressions and insane red pandas, incredible amount of OTPs (<- oxymoron) and all fifty-billion AUs in potentia...small wonder that it is eating my life.
Vacation was a long stretch of doing nothing useful punctuated with randomly productive activities. Helping my mom with her final project, chauffeuring people (mostly my sister and brother, though there were notable exceptions, such as that appointment with Destiny early on...) around, visit from the Surprise!Cousins and subsequent tour of NYC, watching Rent... And in not-at-all-productive news, there was much anime watching (more on this later, clearly), catching up on manga reading and completely failing to study for Organic Chemistry at all. Once again I have determined that I am completely useless unless I have a schedule to make my life miserable.
One Piece! AH. ODA. WHY ARE YOU SO INSANE. One-month long break of nail-biting cliffhanger, and then you get Zoro beat up, implying that he cares more about Luffy reaching his dream than his own! Sanji getting beat down! W.T.H. Never leave me, OP.
Bleach is turning frightening. I don't even know (or care, sometimes) what's going on anymore. VIRUSES? COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY TORTURE OF MINOR ENEMY, MAYURI. Kubo, what is wrong with you?
Saiunkoku Monogatari. Behind on this, but caught up as far as fansubs go. Ancient Chinese government systems with magic and feminism and pretty neon haired bishounen.
Eyeshield 21. HIRUMA. WTH. I keep waiting for some completely gratuitous and unrealistic bribery or gun-shooting to miraculously fix the problem but what is this, and why does my heart feel like it's breaking? HOW ARE THEY GOING TO WIN THE CHRISTMAS BOWL NOW?!
Hunter x Hunter...Togashi, why do you hate us so? The plot seriously gets so much better in this arc! There is so much development, as compares to what we have at the end of Greed Island. New teachers! Crazy girl from The Ring! straight out of some horror story! Development of the villains! SHOWDOWN OF ULTIMATE DESTINY...and then The Great Hiatus.
Dabbling in these once in a while:
Kyou Kara Maou. Am waiting waiting waiting for the chance to finish the series now, sitting on my hard drive mocking me. But Conrad is &hearts, as always...
Gankutsuou is a space opera version of The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I can never remember if it was father or son, but I'm inclined towards pere. The animation is very shiny and bright and kinda quirky, with the moving patterns. Haven't gotten far enough for the plot to get very interesting...
Naruto. Don't know, not sure I care anymore, if I can be tempted enough, I will probably pull another manga-cram in the middle of finals week.
Nana...at the just-want-to-know-what-happens stage of interest. Manga-cram possibility, if I can stand slogging through the early chapters again...
Death Note. Not willing to watch the second anime arc anyway; it was convoluted and painful enough in the manga. Maybe the new movie...
And then there's Mushishi and Bartender and Honey and Clover all of which I adore, but I don't really feel like there's much fandom for them. Not fandom that I'm particularly interested in reading, anyway, except for Hachikuro, perhaps...Also The Snow Queen, which has such a wonderful story, and it's so cute and calming and young-children's-cartoon feeling (probably because it is a children's cartoon) that it's relaxing. There are only new subbed episodes about every three months, so this is just wishful thinking...
Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn, AKA mafia-anime of frightening proportions of win, is taking over my brain. It's just so shiny. Completely useless main character except when he gets shot and canon fanboys/fangirls, and the stupid cow who becomes incredible and angsty, and swordfights and fires and the pretty! SO MUCH PRETTY. Infants with firearms and shape-shifting animal familiars! And the crazy retarded pairing number system like an algebra equation gone so very very wrong. Pineapples! Tsunafish! Hibird and the school anthem! ALL THE CHARACTER CDS! Famiglia = Nakama, why am I such a sucker for this kind of thing...
Firefly! So confusing when you watch the movie first. Spent a lot of time waiting for River to become awesome, but didn't really happen until the last episode... But eeee! &hearts for crew dynamics and SPACESHIPS and awesome soundtrack of cultureFUSION and Big Damn Heroes, yes. (But speeding through all of Firefly means I didn't watch Heroes.)
And not quite fandom-y (yet?) series:
Nodame Cantabile! Much love for the music and the crazy piano-playing-in-a-dumpster. &hearts for the anime being quite awesome, and the Paris arc... Adorably awkward oboe players and CRABS FROM HOKKAIDO and marsh-light fireflies and Rachmaninoff...Music as light. Difficult conversations with Schubert! And I'm a sucker for slow-progression love stories, anyhow...
Gintama has been started, not pursued with any particular regularity, but Sadaharu and ELIZABETH-THE-CREEPY-NOT-DUCK-THING. Long-haired samurai-ninja character. ALIENS. Looks like fun.
Tegami Bachi is being published in Jump Square and there isn't much interest in it right now, but Letter Bees! Crazy girl with Hair of Doom! Hearts and stars and giant bugs! How can you not like a boy whose dream is to grow up and become a mailman?
I'm sure I've forgotten some. Ah well, worry about it later.
So! New semester begins tomorrow, with a noon class on the History of Pharmacy, whatever that means. Still worried because I'm missing Statistics as a class, and that drops my credits below the minimum of 12 (even with the Social Psychology course that I picked up JUST so I could round out my credit hours) if I want to try to get the Organic Chemistry section I want. I have the person to switch lab sections with, but I lack the ability to actually take on the class until I can get my Statistics! Oh the dilemma. Why was/am I such an idiot? I could've just picked it up when I had the chance instead of waiting until after all the sections had filled up. So much for "no one wants the Douglas class anyway." Well, everything depends on Thursday and the assurance that "I'm in Pharmacy, I need this class." should get me into everything I need. Not sure I should rely on that...but I don't really have a choice at this point of the game.
I'm not sure this is accurate. Even if this is my favorite time of day, I'm not that kind of person. (Except that I took this twice and got the same result both times. Hmm...)
Good luck to Crystal and Lily, who both still have midterms and finals, respectively.
