Did you just call me "deadly furniture"?

Well, I think it's safe to say that if the being human producers intended s2 to be darker, they definitely succeeded. No easing the viewers into a new series - nope, it's just HI WE'RE BACK AND LIFE FOR THE OT3 IS GOING TO SUUUUCK.

Cut for general OMG-ery )

spooks: its always the russians, being human: so who wants tea?, oh my ot3

OMG the werewolf scene. I got so incredibly squicked out. I started having sympathy pains. It was terrible (in a good television sort of way.)

And tea! Mitchell and Annie were adorably happy at making and serving and watching all their neighbors drink tea.

I am really looking forward to the rest of the series!

The werewolf in the compression chamber w/ his face getting all contorted was definitely squicky, but OH NINA - that was just heartbreaking and awful. I was really hoping that somehow, miraculously, she hadn't gotten infected. guess not.

And Annie/Mitchell were OMG SO HAPPY and in their element, weren't they??? ADORABLE.

I thought I recognized him in the s2 trailer, but wasn't totally sure until he walked through the door of the pub and I was all BENNNN! U R ALIVE!

Too bad he seems kinda shady :(

And I just finished watching spooks s6, when his character's introduced, and MAN he was so much more awesome then - they TOTALLY wasted him in s7. Same with Jo. s7 was the first I had seen of either, and I just remember being totally annoyed by Jo's not being able to get a grip and Ben's role as background furniture, but in the series before THEY WERE BOTH SOOOO AWESOME! WTH SHOW?

But YEAH - being human s2 = EPICNESS (though I would like a little bit of the lightness of s1 back..)

LMAO - there was a total ALLLIIIVVVE! ALLLIVVVE! moment there. Esply as it was awful how he died in S7. I haven't watched the previous Seasons, so don't know the extent of him and Jo's awesomeness, but I did think they could've used them better in S7. And then knocking Jo off this season ;_;

Yeah, I am thinking there's a hidden motive to Saul at the pub too!

It is a lot darker, isn't it! I knew they were planning that but S1 was so sweet and cute, even with its serious aspects. Guess they didn't want to become this fluffy show where nothing much happens. Plus - bigger budget = more people/things to transform/kill etc!

Hee, nice icon. ;)

But yeah, it really was dark, wasn't it?
George was a dickhead, Kemp & co. were super creepy, the vampire couple were weird and crazy and sinister and Lucy and Saul are clearly bad news.
The episode had its flaws - mainly being too crammed and sort of badly structured - but it was still probably best television there is at the moment. Let's hope it will continue being awesome.

yeah, the ep was TOTALLY dark, and it almost seemed like a completely different show. each ep from the previous series did an excellent job of balancing the humor with the drama - this ep, not so much (aside from the Annie bits and the last 2 minutes..). and I think they really did overreach a little, intro'ing all those new characters in the first ep. they prob would have been better off spreading them out over the first 2 or 3.

I could see where George was coming from, but that doesn't make what he did suck any less - but you could almost see him enjoying the time before his change.. something definitely switched after he killed Herrick - i just keep thinking back to what Tully said at the end of 1.2

AND WHAT WAS UP WITH MITCHELL?? He was so mopey and broody and so not the dorktastic vampire-bff i fell in love with last series. I WANT THAT MITCHELL BACK.

But yeah, huge, intense, AWESOME episode. this series is gonna be RIDICULOUS

Yeah, when George was walking down the railroad tracks, humming to himself and skipping a little with this almost smug little smile on his face, I just wanted to slap him.
But one of the things I love about this show is how realistic it is, as in people act and talk like real people would, despite being vampires or ghosts or whatever. So yeah, something like having to embrace your hated "dark side" to rip someone to pieces would screw up your head a little.

As for Mitchell, I think his whole uselessness funk was underlined by George on purpose, it was no coincidence and will, I think, lead to his major storyline this series. If you ask me for predictions? I think he will relapse, at least at first to regain his vampiric strength to protect his friends. And to have a purpose again.

Judging by stuff I've read, the series is not gonna get any brighter, but I do hope there at least will be moments of heartwarming camaraderie.
