So I went down to pick up the guitar at the Providence Pawn shop today. It was in a hardshell case, which was not advertised in the auction. The person who was going to sell me the guitar over the counter went ahead and said the case comes with the auction (which was great). Then the head of the shop corrected him and said that it was not listed, and that it would cost $25 extra. Not a big deal, especially because most cases are 40-60 or more for a hardshell case.

I went into Noll Guitar to fix the action on the guitar I picked up. I have been in there probably 8-10 times, but I have never talked to the lutheran who helped me out today. When I showed him what I wanted fixed, he pretty much tore the guitar apart. I'm totally clueless when it comes to anything guitar related, sans a handful of basic things. He explained that it was a chinese made guitar, and the wood finish was really thin/cheap. I felt pretty stupid, but what are you going to do? I havent tried it out yet, maybe it will still sound decent?

The lutheran then went on and talked guitar dynamics with me for two+ hours straight. From 4:20 -6:40 (shop closes at 6:30). It was great learning everything in regards to guitars and their history. Explanation of how the intonation works (and how easily it can be altered), history of guitar strings and pickups, pretty much everything that I thought I had a clue about and didnt. I really wanted to get in and get out quickly, because I wanted to go to finish up some work before I went into work. He just kept pouring out everything about guitars you could possibly imagine. What am I supposed to do? Sorry, I dont want to listen to you anymore? He is the guy fixing my guitar, I cant tell him to stop talking. Especially because I will come back here again when I need something. The shop is great. There were literally no breaks in the talking either. I just held out. I cant believe my attention didnt shift throughout the whole thing, because I was exhausted.

I also got finally got my old Yamaha electric fixed up. He is fixing the action, the wiring, and I'm finally changing out the middle single coil pickup since it generally produces a loud humming sound. I ended up getting a DiMarzio HS2 pickup. Seems like a pretty versatile pickup from what I read.
