Do you have a pet? Insurance not cover dental/vision/hearing?

Hello there.

Due to the more-than-I-want-to-think-about number of cat illnesses and passings this year (and other animals, too, we know you're out there), I'd like to do a little PSA.

If you've never heard of it, go to http://www.carecredit.com/ and learn about Care Credit ( Read more... )

If it's "credit" or a credit card then I already know I don't qualify.

My problem with pet insurance is that while I could afford it for one cat, I couldn't afford it for three, and I don't want to choose which cat is most important. When Poupée was alive I'd have liked to have it for her, but since she was diagnosed with feline diabetes they wouldn't have accepted her.

*nod* It's like a type of credit card, but only for medical things. It's not for *everyone*, but I wanted to let people know about it in case it can help anyone.

Insurance...is a gambling game that you can't win. I can't even afford to insure myself. They wouldn't take Potato now anyway, since he's been in the hospital once and eats a special diet for the crystals.

It looks like it's probably U.S.-only too, so my vet wouldn't accept it anyway.

I spent thousands of dollars on Poupée in the last two or three years of her life. The poor kitty didn't ask to have the problems she did. My consolation is that her former owner, the one she left me for, probably wouldn't have done anything for her and would have let her die. Even with her medical problems, she was a very happy cat.

Rosebud is a young cat and would probably be the best candidate for insurance, but since she's already being treated for whatever is causing her eye and mouth inflammation, I don't know whether that would affect her qualifying for insurance. Calli is a senior kitty and probably the one most likely to need regular vet visits in the near future, but they charge more for senior kitties.

I had care credit for Bouncer when she was in the final stages of her heart disease. It was a guilt-saver for me, because I knew she could get the treatment she needed.

Very excellent service! :)
