Characters: Link, Saria What: The title pretty much says it! Horseback-riding through town. Where: ... All through town. XD When: Saturday, March 6th Rating: G, it's Link and Saria!
Saria was, indeed, up bright and early and looking forward to a day of fun.
She was at the door within a split second of his knocking and opened it widely, smiling happily.
"Thanks for coming, Link! ♥ It's always good to see you." Stepping out of her apartment, she locked the door and turned back to him. "So, where are we going exactly?"
"Ah, well, I was thinking of finding a place to eat first," Link explained as he led her away from the apartment and to Epona. "I have enough rupees on hand to cover a meal for us, I believe. Afterward, we can just explore and see what's around. Maybe we can even go fishing by the harbor."
All of that seemed like fun to him! He'd do whatever Saria wanted, though.
"An early lunch would be splendid. I'm afraid I don't know the ... restaurants, as they seem to call them,... around here. Hopefully you know of place that serves good food, yes?"
She walked over to Epona and gently patted her neck. This horse seemed... somehow familiar, as if she's known it in a dream. Saria took an immediate liking to her, but was a little taken aback at how much bigger she was.
"I've never been fishing. Would you teach me how, Link?" she asked as she tried to figure out how she was going to get on top of this gigantic animal.
Link frowned a little, unfortunately to state that, "I don't know much of the 'restaurants' here either. I have only gone to the markets for food," and by that, he meant the supermarkets. However, his old Hylian self kept the habit of just calling them 'markets'. It really was like a market gone modern.
"Maybe we can find something as we ride," He then paused and moved on to answering Saria's other question. With a smile, he told her, "Oh, of course I can teach you how to fish. It does take practice, but it is worthwhile and relaxing."
He then made sure that the saddle on Epona was firmly fastened, before turning back to Saria. "Oh, do you need help to get on?"
Saria nodded in acknowledgment at both his answers. Playing things by ear was all right with her.
She stared again at the saddle and the horse in front of her and scratched her cheek, thoughtfully.
"Yes, I do, um, believe I will need a bit of help." The footrest only hanged down to her neck, so getting her foot in place would certainly be a challenge.
Link felt a little bad, wondering if Epona might have seemed intimidating to her. Heck, she did to Guy when he met him in the park. Ah well, surely she'd warm up to her, right?
"Haha, that's alright. Here," He held her under her arms, lifted her, and carefully, placed her on Epona's back. He, too, climbed up onto the horse, and instructed her to do only one thing:
"Hold on to me, okay?" He passed her a friendly grin. Safety precautions, after all.
She grasped onto his mid-region tightly, half-scared and half-excited to see the land from a horse-rider's point of view. She figured as long as Link was around, nothing terribly bad could happen to her, so there was nothing to be afraid of. ...Assuming he was the same type of Link she knew, anyway.
In response, she uttered, "R-Right..." and gripped a little tighter, surprised at how insecure she felt on such a friendly creature. (((the horse, that is)))
Link nodded and swiftly edged Epona forward, giving out a "Hyaa!" as he did so. The horse let out a soft whine, and began to trot off. It started a bit fast at first, but the Hylian soothed the horse into going into lighter gallops. He didn't want them to go too fast, after all, especially if the risk existed for Saria to fall off.
"Are you doing alright so far?" He smiled, and added, "By the way, what kind of food do you like?"
Her blushing began to fade as she grew more comfortable in the situation--and around him. What wasn't growing more comfortable, however, was her tush.
Before responding to him, she said out loud, "Goodness, riding a horse is sore business." Then she smiled back at him and assured him, "It's a new experience, but I'm doing all right. Thanks, Link."
What kind of food did she like? They don't have any of the nuts or plants they did back in Kokiri forest. But in the short time that she's been in Diamond City, she'd been to a few places that served food and learned a few new favorite dishes.
"I've found that I enjoy chicken salads and pecan pie. There's nothing like them back at home. Have you ever tried them, Link?"
Link laughed a little awkwardly at Saria's spoken thoughts of this ride so far. As long as she was fine, that was great! He knew how it felt first trying to ride a horse, though. It was pretty sore for him until he got used to it.
"I've had salad made from Cuckoos at home, and some friends at home in Ordon made pecan pie all the time," though they were probably plenty less processed and such, due to low technology and other such things in Hyrule, at least his Hyrule. "They do taste pretty great. I wonder if one of the places here would serve them."
They began to approach a few eateries as Epona turned a corner. Out of the edge of his eye, he noticed one place that looked simplistic, but very home-like. There was a large sign with a name, one that showed that it was, indeed, a place to eat.
"Hey, how does that look? Maybe we can eat there?"
Saria turned and looked to where Link was gesturing. It seemed like a quaint little place. Quite agreeable and inviting. Plus, the smell of freshly baked pies emanated from it, tempting her even more.
"That place seems perfect. Mmm, do you smell that?"
She stopped and thought for a moment. "Where will you keep Epona?"
Link inhaled deeply, and only then did the scent of delectable desserts waft upon his nose. That did smell like a bundle of sweet and a pan of fruity and nutty. It was admittedly enticing!
He was, however, snapped out of his state by Saria's question. He paused and glanced around, noticing a pole just near the cafe. It was spaced away from the road enough to hopefully keep Epona out of trouble.
"Hmm, let me see-... Oh, do you need help getting off?" He asked, hopping off of his horse and lending her a friendly hand.
I have to use this icon before I replace it with older!Saria.sariaspiritMarch 10 2010, 18:55:38 UTC
Saria decided to try hopping off herself but only slid off the horse flat on her face because she's short and her mun is mean I mean wait what am I
Saria smiled and nodded, taking his hand and steadying herself as she hopped down. She gave Epona a grateful pat as Link tied her to the pole.
"Mmmm, that scent is making me realize how hungry I am! Does it do that to you, too, Link?" She stood back and looked over the building before skipping over to the door and holding it open for him. "After you!"
It is a very cute icon <3tricourageMarch 11 2010, 14:58:44 UTC
Then Link felt real real bad and sat there with this face: :C
Link finished tying his horse to the pole, making sure the rope was sturdy and short enough for her to not run into the road. She looked like she would certainly be fine, which was great. He didn't want Epona to get hurt. She was like a part of his family!
"It does- oh?" Link blinked when he noticed Saria opening the door for him, and then he gave her a wide grin. "Oh, thanks!" He went inside along with her, and held up a bag of rupees.
"I hope they'll accept this money. They did when I got my apartment, but I don't know about restaurants," He had to admit. He talked to the man up front, explaining his foreign roots and showing him the rupees. The man gleefully stated that he could get to a bank and change the money, anywho, and tallied the amount of cash for a table alone. Afterward, Link gave him some rupees to cover the table fee.
"Come, he's going to show us a table," He nodded and followed along with the man to their table.
Time for nomming!sariaspiritMarch 12 2010, 00:03:22 UTC
With a grin from ear to ear, she followed behind him, still enjoying the smells of all the delicacies the kitchen was concocting. The restaurant wasn't terribly busy, so only a few fellow diners, to whom she gave a friendly wave.
She eagerly took a seat at their table and looked it over. The menu was quite colorful, and she'd recognized the table setup (napkin, knife, fork, etc.) from the other times she'd been out and about. A friendly waiter had previously taught her how to use each utensil and when to use it, so the most exciting part to her was deciding what to eat.
"The atmosphere in this place is quite enduring. Even though our... er, my home was quite different, this place still feels welcoming to me." She smiled again at Link and glanced over her menu.

Link had been to Hyrule Castle Market, where better quality, wooden utensils were frequently used, so he pretty much knew how they were used. However, the set up still was slightly apart from Hyrule's. The napkins were definitely... different.
"I would have liked to see your home," Link told her, curious what her land back at home was like. "Hyrule must have been so different back then. It must be great, though."
He flipped over the menu, looking at many of these dishes. Some of these were very... foreign to him, and the menu even had some things he never even heard of. Paninis? Buffalo wings? What were these things? He was especially curious about the latter. Huh.
"Hmm, I'll have the salad and this chicken," He pointed to the menu with the names, and then pointed to the buffalo wings. "I am unsure about this, but the name makes me wonder what 'buffalo wings' must be. Haha, they might be good."
