Characters: Kamek, Naval What: A meetup said to be for his hypnotist services! Where: Kamek's shack When: Friday night the 9th Rating: G- because you can trust these too, right?
Kamek set aside the last few boxes from the center of the room to at least make the living space look somewhat presentable. Having arrived not long before, he still had to organize a few junk here and there. He didn't carry much with him, in case Kamek had to leave in a moment's notice.
Whatever time she wanted to come over, what was he thinking? He hadn't really anticipated the appointment to be so soon. That girl must've been terrified of lolita-whatever clowns to have wanted to see him that very same day. Maybe she was afraid of having a nightmare that same night? How silly.
Kamek wouldn't admit it, but he still felt dispirited over what happened to the kingdom, and it wasn't even the first time some shady characters attempted to take control of the castle. The magikoopa still had doubts about going temporarily off-duty. The threat was gone, yes, but he's so used to working around the castle, bossing minions around, being ordered himself by the royal family, that he felt a tad, dare I say it, lonely. And Kamek wouldn't have such useless emotions creeping up in any situation. For this reason, he hoped that testing the waters of the hypnotizing business again would take his mind off such matters.
As if on cue, Kamek heard the knock on the door. He nudged one of the boxes to the side with his shoe and walked over to answer the door, guessing it had to be that girl from his journal. His expectations were correct.
"Come in," was his simple reply, opening the door to let her in. "Hope you don't mind the mess too much." There was a couch and desk set in what constituted as the living room, but that was it.
"I-I promise I'll bring over some complimentary floral 'rrangements next time, thank you"
Part of her just wanted to prod his glasses right away, but standards in human manners prevented her from doing that. She was only just a little bit disappointed that- for once being able to see him this close to her (not having eyes as she originally was), he just looked like any REGULAR Magikoopa. You'd think a high-rank nanny such as him would stand out more or something?
Keeping her wand out of his sight, Naval walked inside the room and stood by the desk.
It's those other Magikoopas stealing his style, I tell ya (there's a couple of canon differences, but Nintendo stop caring about that forever ago).
Next time? "That won't be necessary," Kamek said, wondering why she would even bother. She was just here to cure a phobia, wasn't she?
Looking at this girl in person, did he notice something familiar about her. Green skin, red hair, those spike bands...
"You know, you look an awful lot like a Pirahna Plant," came his astute observation. This girl....whatever her name was, didn't strike him as Beanish for some reason.
Kamek waited for her to finish her sentence, hopefully to pry some excuse for this late-night appointment.
She crossed her arms and smiled at the magikoopa. "Well aren't you quite the observant one!" All Kamek had to do was remember that Southern Belle-ish 1type of voice she had, and he'd figure her out completely! Because he's a goddamn genius!
She sat herself on the table, straightening the polka-dotted red skirt over her lap. "But yeah! I'm actually just a ol' Piranha maiden makin' a living in this city! I know I must look kinda silly and normal as I do now, but I don' think I'd be able to get around otherwise, so sometimes I just kinda try to look the part since people always saw me as a pootbean! I actually got these new armbands just last week at a new site called Boroque Online!"
"So you're really a Pirahna plant?" Kamek was surprised to learn this. For a plant, or any other non-human, to take on the form of such required no ordinary magic. He knew Magikoopa magic was capable of this kind of transformation....but there could be another explanation. "How did you obtain this form?" The whole hypnotizing deal was momentarily pushed to the back of his mind.
....somehow, the more this girl talked, the more the nagging feeling grew that he'd heard this voice -somewhere-. He couldn't quite place his finger on it yet, it's been so long...
"Well I'm not gon' just give away a woman's secrets like that," Naval replied, waving a finger! "There's a bit of a trend in humanoidism 'round these parts if yer interested, but I don' think it'd be of any use to you!"
She slid off the table, keeping one arm behind her because of what she was obviously hanging onto. Her eyes lowered to the floor. "But just so you know... I didn't come here for the hypnosis."
Kamek was taken aback by this. "If you're not here for that, than what exactly do you want?" He frowned, leaning on the wall behind him. He was more than ready to kick her out for taking up his time if she didn't provide a good excuse.
He noticed that she was trying to hide something behind her, and he instantly felt the paranoia rising up in him.
"I thought you'd find out yourself by now, master, but it looks like we're not gonna get a guessing game outta this, now aren't we?" She finally held out the wand in front of her, twirling it in her hand.
As he shouted her name, the wand was pointed directly to her temple and she flinched as she set it off, much like someone suicidally blowing their brains out.
She was shrouded for a brief moment in magical energy before her true (and much larger) form was revealed.
Her head was almost too close to hitting the ceiling and her vines knocked some boxes over as they sprawled about the floor. The wand was now in one of her smaller buds.
Her tone of voice was rather sarcastic now. "Nice to see you too, Master Kamek!"
Kamek took a few steps back as he watched the monstrous plant take up the space of his living room. Her vines were knocking over everything in the room, but he didn't care about that right now. All that mattered was that the once minion who he hired many years ago in Yoshi's Island was now looking back at him (or, you know, whatever), looking a bit displeased that it had taken him this long to recognize his old assistant.
Kamek had his suspicions, of course. He simply refused to get his hopes up.
"Naval....it's been a while." Kamek may be a genius, but as someone not used to warm, familiar greetings, was a tad unsure how to go about this.
Without anymore hesitation, Kamek was snared in her vines and hugged... painfully tight! "I never expected you t'be here, Master! I was gonna head out to Lord Bowser's castle after I heard that catastophe happened!"
Kamek thought he heard a bone snap as he was hauled in and smothered in her vines, but nevertheless let himself be hugged.
"I could say the same for you..." Kamek managed to say. "But's all resolved now; the kingdom's safe, the castle is being rebuilt as we speak, and most importantly, the threat has been exterminated." (LITTLE DID HE KNOW)
"Do you mean threat as in the Marios jumpin' 'round naughtilly in Lord Bowser's innards ((That's the Koopa Troop rumor mill for ya!)) or Mister shit-eating grin foreign exchange kid scurring in the alleyways?"
Yeah, Kamek's heard the rumors around the castle about the plumbers violating the insides of Bowser's body. "I'm talking about the crazy maniac who overran the castle and brainwashed half the Koopa Troop," he explained, making himself comfortable on Naval's vines. "Are you saying...that guy's here? In Diamond City?"
