Christmas

The day had been perfect, he already wore her gift on his finger, the small gold band to show him how she loved him, and everything was just perfect. And here she was, lying watching the man she loved sleep soundly, their cats curled up at the bottom of their bed. Satine couldn’t believe it, how much everything had just turned on its head. Months ago they had been separated, and here they were, back living in the same house, back sleeping in one another’s arms.

Slowly her fingers brushed over his chest and cuddled closer to him, nuzzling into his neck, kissing his skin softly.

Christmas had never meant much to Satine, it was just like any other day but they had charged more money when they sold their bodies, there were no real gifts, no cheer, no families. Now here she was with the man she loved, the man she was going to marry, and for the first time in her life she understood the true meaning behind Christmas, that it was all about love and families and hope.
