mini rant, at least i hope it will be

Just to begin with, I love Edward. I love Rob for doing such a wonderful job making Edward live in my mind's eye. I'm kind of eh about Kristen but I love Bella also. She's not just a wringing her hands sort of damsel in distress and she holds her own with Edward, forcing him to see her not just as an extension of himself but as her own person

I don't dislike Jake...although I certainly don't agree with the way he went about some actions (kissing). He is a typical boy trying to get his point across, just doing it the wrong way. Edward, while a teen in age, is a man mentally. I do think Jake is important to the story line. He is the one that puts the ideas of vampires into Bella's mind in Twilight, or else it *might* not have occured to her. Also, while Bella is not my favorite character, she was distraught in NM and it was Jake that helped put her back together again....sure, he might have had alterior motives, but he succeeded in bringing a bit of life back to her eyes. That being said, he was a jerk in Eclipse, but I adored the tent scene with him and Edward...nice insight to both characters.

Now, as for the Cullens. I adore Em's humor, Carlise's leadership and Rosalie's tenacity (but she is my least fav character). Esme is so loving, Alice is just great all around. Edward rocks, he still has a lot to learn, but he is trying. He was rasied in a different time and still holds those values dear to his heart, which is definitely part of his appeal. However, he certainly would do anything for love.

However, my heart lies with Jasper. I adore him, he wasn't given enough credit in the movie and imo, the books only touched on his character, past, power and possibility. He would also do anything for love, Alice's love. If you read MS, you probably know what I am referring to. He is just as devoted to Edward and I think finally began to realize that Edward seeks the same with Bella that Jazz has with Alice.

Nope. I love Jasper too. One of the things I especially loved in Eclipse was to get insight into Jasper's background and why being vegetarian is so much harder for him than some of the others. I sympathize with Jasper in many ways and I know he loves Alice beyond all description.
