So my 21st was good. It wasn’t brilliant and I wished so much I could’ve been at home partying with my friends and all my family. I’m really grateful to everyone here though. They did the best they could to make me feel special and I had a good day. I just kinda thought that your 21st was supposed to be different; to me it just felt like a normal birthday.
I’d didn’t really get many presents as it was difficult for people to send them out to me but I did get £150 but it’s all in English money so I can’t spend it until I get home, which in a way is better as it means that I can really enjoy my week at home, with lots of shopping and lots of going out! My mum and dad bought me a really nice bracelet and then each of my brothers and sister bought me a charm to go on it! My mum also made a scrapbook of pictures etc from when I was a baby to now which was really nice! Some of the pictures are pretty embarrassing though!
The school really made me special! I arrived and everyone greeted me with a birthday wish and in the class which I had, they pupils decorated the blackboard and sang Happy Birthday to me! The teachers had also bought me a bunch flowers and some of the English teachers took me out to a really nice Italian restaurant for my lunch!
Later on in the evening, I met Harriet and Huw and we went for another meal in a really nice café/bar and had a few drinks! They sang Happy Birthday to me twice, once in English and once in Welsh because Huw is Welsh! After leaving there we went up to Oma’s Apotheke, as we do every Wednesday and met up with the other assistants.
I pretty much get on with everybody but some of them are so rude it’s unbelievable! Harriet and I were chatting with Maria and Rebecca and Emily came along. And for some reason they don’t like Harriet and me, and as result we don’t particularly like them! They were so rude though and completely ignored us whilst talking to Maria and even turned their backs on us. I sent Harriet message saying “how rude!” whilst we were sat there! Everyone always talks about the stuff they’ve done since the last time we met too and me and Harriet have started to get a bit of a complex as no one ever lets us know or asks us along. Anyway, that’s my little rant over with.
Everyone sang Happy Birthday really loud in Oma’s which was really nice even if it was slightly embarrassing! It’s nice to feel like you’re the centre of attention for a few minutes! Harriet and I left Oma’s pretty early as we were both pretty tired. We both felt really drunk too even though I’d only had two glasses of rose! Normally it takes a lot more than that to make me feel drunk!
I woke up this morning feeling like shit. It really did feel like a hangover even though I’d drunk so little. I’ve been sneezing all day today though and really think I’m getting a cold so that could be the reason I felt so bad this morning.
I met Harriet to do some shopping, just for a change! Neither of us bought anything though because the shops were too expensive. We just sat in a café, had some food and wrote postcards to back home! I bought a lock for my bike so I can go out and about on that now! Emma is coming up from Cologne tomorrow so that should be good, and then Leonie is here on Saturday! We have a long weekend, with Monday and Tuesday off school because it’s a German bank holiday to mark the reunification.
We also break up from school soon for the October half term. I’ve got my flights booked for home and fly on the 17th and return on the 24th! I can’t wait! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone and going out back home so much. Most importantly though I can’t wait to have one of my Mum’s Sunday dinners!
