In the Children's Hour book section, for gawd's sake...

Barry Award* nominations are out, for acts at the Melbourne Festival. Minchin has a nod, go Tim. And Asher too. A man I once had to heckle with the panicky warning of "that one's got a knife!" as a child came stomping through a Festival field towards the stage to take revenge on the gasbag frontrow tween who wouldn't shush... happily, it was a retractable fake, so when the screeching girl was repeatedly stabbed in the head, nothing penetrated beyond a sense of self-loathing. Aaah, memories.

The Nominees
Tim Minchin (AUS) - Ready For This?
Rich Hall (USA) - Otis Lee Crenshaw Featuring Special Guest Rich Hall
Jesse Griffin (NZ) - Wilson Dixon Rides Again
Sarah Millican (UK) - Sarah Millican's Not Nice
Asher Treleaven (AUS) - Open Door (Moosehead Award Recipient)
The Pajama Men (USA) - Versus vs Versus
Henning Wehn & Otto Kuhnle (DEU) - 1000 Years of German Humour

Winners to be announced on Saturday. Good-oh.

* Named for Humphries, not honour to the Sarll family. Though I have long thought it sounds like the acts will just get a stickered tankard from a grinning enthusiast.
