Summary Boss decides to fly overseas to find secrets on how to increase customer count. There, he chances upon a familiar face

A café abroad

A year has passed since ‘J.Beans’ had his favourite customer dined in the café.

Boss always wondered why that forbidden beauty has not visited his café after that day. Was it really because of his eyes - he would feel guilty - or did his sexuality scared his favourite customer away? Boss wanted to clear up any misunderstandings if there were any, but it seems like he has not had a chance for a year.

J.Beans is in a dire situation. Potential buyers are looking into taking over this plot of land which his café currently sits on and in order to make sure his café doesn’t close down; Boss needs to show results that this café is worth keeping. Therefore, he decides to go aboard and learn how to improve his current situation. At the same time, Jeena is turning three and he decides to bring his daughter abroad for a holiday.

Paris, 2012.

It has been three days since Jaejoong hyung and I visited Paris for a holiday. Jaejoong hyung had recently started a café partnership with his best friend Park Yoochun who resides in the city of Paris and on my mother’s order, he brought me along.

Jaejoong hyung is crazy about coffee and he calls his café ‘Park’s Cojjee’. Sometimes I wonder how Yoochun hyung actually listens and let Jaejoong hyung do as he pleases. People shouldn’t be compassionate with him because he takes advantage of whatever he is given and that is why I love my mother; she’s my role-model.

It’s winter in Paris and I’m shopping with Jaejoong hyung at the mall - how boring.

“Changmin ah~” Jae hyung called me from the far end of the children section.

I hear Jaejoong hyung’s voice. I gathered up enough strength and shouted back, “here!!!” and continue sulking at a corner. Why the children section?

aejoong hyung trailed my voice and ran towards me with a gigantic Peter Bunny, half my size, and flailed in front of me.

He squatted down and held the large bunny in my face, “Changmin ah~ isn’t this bunny cute? Look at its ears!!” Jaejoong hyung was incoherent between words as he flapped the bunny’s long ears.

I gave a disinterested look, “yeah yeah, he’s cute, so cute, his long ears are very attractive” and rested my chin on my hand.

Seriously, why did my mother even make Jaejoong hyung fly me to Paris? I don’t want to spend my sixth birthday with an idiot like him. Just look at him! He’s like a child, while I’m the adult.

“Changmin ah, I know you are not interested in toys since that stupid sister of mine has been educating you on how to read stocks, but I think as a kid you should at least appreciate stuffed toys.”

“But Jae hyung, I don’t like stuffed animals! They are gay and for losers like you to flail about. What appeal does this rabbit have?” I crossed my arms and stared at the fat rabbit.

Jaejoong hyung scoffed, “yah, at least this loser toy can be a companion for you whose parents are always not by your side. Stop trying to act mature Mr. Adult wannabe” He rolled his eyes and threw the toy at me, not forgetting to be childish by sticking out his tongue to get back at me.

I sighed heavily and watched him get up. Sometimes I wonder if he is ashamed to be childish in public. I got up and followed him carrying that fat rabbit that he desperately wants me to get. I know Jaejoong hyung is trying to speak to me at my level so I would not miss out much on childhood but mother brought me up to speak like an adult and think less as a child so I would not be demanding.

Jaejoong hyung continued to speak while looking at baby clothes. “Really, Changmin, you should whine a little. It’s healthy.”

I crossed my arm and scrunched my face. “No, that is for weak boys like that nephew of yours.” Junsu is such a whiny brat! I still remember how he gets any attention he wants whenever he whines. Big boys do not need all these. Good things will come to you if you behave… that is what I believe.

“Junsu isn’t weak. Whining at your age is perfectly fine. It’s good to get attention when you are lonely.” Jaejoong hyung picked up a shirt that says ‘I love my uncle’.

I leaned against the wall and ignored that ugly looking shirt. “Isn’t that bad? That is being an attention-whore.”

Jaejoong hyung dropped the shirt back into the rack and turns to look at me, “hey young man, who taught you the word ‘whore’? That’s a dirty word.”

I tucked my hands back into my coat, “television?”

“What happened to cartoons?”

“Mother doesn’t subscribe to them.”

I could hear Jaejoong hyung cursed my mother for not letting me create childhood memories again.

My nightmare is here.

I thought straying aside from Jaejoong hyung would be alright since he is like an elderly woman in a young man’s body; he takes too long to look at one item so if I disappear for five minutes, I would still be able to find him at the same spot.

Sometimes I forget that I am not in Seoul, but Paris and Jaejoong hyung is easily intrigued by things he has never seen before.

Jaejoong hyung is lost!

No, I am not lost, I am perfectly fine, just, Jaejoong hyung!

“Jaeeeeejooong hyung!!!!!!!” I shouted his name as I ran between the tall shelves. Why am I not taller so I could see that brunette? “Hyung!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Silence.

I have to remind you that I am not lost, Jaejoong hyung is lost - a full grown man.

I was running around looking for Jaejoong hyung and I didn’t noticed where I was going and bumped into a man and fell on my bum.

“Ow…” I rubbed my sore butt as the man helped me up.

“Hey there little one, watch where you’re running or you will end up knocking into someone again.” The man with dark hair and in shades spoke to me in English, heavy with a foreign accent. I could tell he was Korean, just like me. He held onto my shoulder and helped me dust the dirt that got caught on my pants.

“Daddy, is he okay? He fell hard on his bum bum…” a little girl asked in Korean as she pulled on the sleeves of her father’s coat.

“Jeena ah, little brother here is fine.” He assured the girl as he replied in their native language. Was this how it feels like to have a father?

“Uhm” I spoke in Korean. I stood up and pushed away the hand that was on my shoulder. His palm is big. “I’m fine thank you. I am sorry but may I borrow your mobile phone? I seem to lose my caretaker.”

The man was shocked and replied back in Korean, “Are you Korean?”

I nodded my head.

“Lost your father?” He asked as he dug deeply into his coat pocket for his mobile phone.

I took the mobile phone and began dialing Jaejoong hyung’s number, “Nope, my uncle.” I smiled. It was nice to have a tourist from your home country.

The phone was ringing and it took awhile before my clumsy uncle picked up the phone.

“Hello, Jaejoong speaking.” I could hear him fanboy over SpongeBob boxers.

“YAH, JAEJOONG HYUNG, WHERE ARE YOU?”

“Hello? Who is- Cha- EH? CHANGMIN?” Yeah, it did take him awhile to realize that I had gone missing.

I tapped my feet and sighed heavily. The man who lends me his phone was trying to hide his giggle. “Jaejoong hyung, where are you!”

“Uh, hold on Changmin…..”

A moment of silence before Jaejoong hyung could explain his location. I knew it! He was lost.

“Are you lost?” I asked.

“Changmin… I don’t know where I am right now, but I’m-”

“-- At the underwear section looking at SpongeBob” I finished the sentence for him. Despite only being six, I was capable of rolling my eyes and spit sarcasm. “And you were supposed to be my caretaker. Who is supposed to take care of who right now?”

Jaejoong hyung raised his voice over the phone “Excuse me young man but who told you to speak so rudely to your Uncle?”

I want to scream and jump on Jaejoong hyung so badly. “Well excuse you! Who is supposed to be responsible now? I am a missing child from the eyes of adults! Wait till I tell-” Threatening Jaejoong hyung always works since he’s afraid of my mother.

“OH NO, DON’T YOU DARE. I am watching you young man-”

“OH YES I WILL and no, you aren’t!” I scoffed. Why does my uncle have to be so childish?

“Yah! Shim Changmin!”

I rolled my eyes. “Overseas call is expensive. Stay there hyung! I’m coming over.” I hung up the phone and returned it back to the stranger.

“Sorry Mister, my Uncle is a bit drunk right now he’s-” I told a little lie but he didn’t have to cut me off!

Mister suddenly grabbed onto my shoulder and took off his sunglasses. “Is your Uncle Kim Jaejoong; a young man with a pretty face, a body as slim as a girl and fair skin?”

The young girl gasped and that is when I saw his mismatched eyes, “Mister… your eyes.”

He coughed and wore his sunglasses on, “sorry.”

I shook my head. “It’s alright. My Uncle is that Kim Jaejoong like how you described.”

Mister stood up and took out his mobile phone. “I found you.”
