Saturday morning I woke up.
I woke up from sleeping more hours than I had in a long time. I woke up from a slump. I woke up for the first time this year. I woke up and I felt really good. Better than I've felt in long time. And I feel good. Right now.
I got dressed and I met Nathalie for a bike ride. It was hot, but it was a good hot, like the hot of the inside of car that’s been parked outside for hours. My newly awakened self apparently has heightened senses and my hawk-like eyes spotted a twenty dollar bill on the trail we were biking. A twenty dollar bill! We biked until the heat got to us and we stopped and sat and talked about everything we could think of. We biked back to Nathalie's house and drank water. She grabbed her swimsuit and we biked to the pool. Scott and Elizabeth were there. They seemed just as glad to see me as I was to see them. The sun came out and we enjoyed the water and we laughed so hard and the chlorine and laughter made our stomachs ache and it felt wonderful. We decided to spend our earnings from the bike ride on food and beer and we zipped over to Gator Dawgs because pools and hot dogs are best friends. We ate like royalty and the woman who worked there said, "I love seeing girls with appetites!" and I smiled at her because she was right. Nathalie and I parted ways so she could buy dog food and I went home and took a shower with my “I’m Taking A Shower” mix blasting. I was so clean and the weather was so hot I knew I wouldn’t leave the house happy if I didn’t wear my onesie. So I put on my silly jumper-thing, ate a yellow freezepop, and watched an episode of The O.C. I then biked back over to Nathalie’s and we went to Gator B.’s to spend the rest of our 20$ and then some on beer. We went back to her place and drank and laughed and played with her dog and people watched and loved run-on sentences. We got hungry and decided to walk to Leo’s. Evan was working and made us some special pasta with vegetables because there wasn’t any vegan pizza left and we got a free salad because no one wanted it and Evan didn’t charge up for the pasta and then gave us beer. We went back to Gator B. and bought ridiculous beer just because the 4-pack came with these little plastic figurines and we really needed to own them. We went back to Nathalie’s and had some nostalgic moments on the internet and then I went home. When I got home I checked to see if my stat grade had been posted and it had. I literally got the exact grade I needed on my final. One point lower would have been a disaster! I went into my room and found that Izzy had left something on my bed. It was the hand drawn invitation we had made for the house-warming sock hop we had at the house when we first moved in last year. It was so funny and I couldn't believe Izzy still had it. I'm pretty sure I was beaming as I got ready for bed. Then, I started rereading my absolute favorite book until I fell asleep with my room light and glasses still on.
I woke up again this morning.
I went to a two hour brunch with Kara and Liz. I had great conversation, great coffee, and great blackberry French toast. I got home and now I’m talking to Ashley Luchansky and I love her!
And now I’m excited to go to sleep, just so I can wake up again tomorrow morning.
