At least, Chisame thought a little hysterically, they had something in common.

Admittedly, as that 'something' was a bizarre lust for Mello, really, it wasn't like she could use that to JUSTIFY this. In fact, she sort of suspected that made it worse. But they'd been drinking in Mello's absence -- damn those toucans! -- and discussing Mello and, well.

Perhaps it had been because the conversation had begun to sound too much like a wake. Perhaps it had been that she'd thought she maybe saw what Near and Mello saw in him -- that keen mind, something penetrating and fast and solid behind that lazy, greasy guise -- and perhaps it was just the alcohol.

The sex had been really good, if rather fantastically limp-wristed, but she was left feeling a little like she'd just cheated on someone.

Strangely, she wasn't entirely sure if it was Mello or Chizuru.
