Tim Minchin is going to play Judas in the new ALW version of Jesus Christ Superstar. Yes, yes, yes and again I say yes. Snarky, Australian, back-combed, ginger Judas is just my cup of tea.
And if that didn't make me giddy with piano-thumping excitement, Chris Moyles (my totally inexplicable secret crush) is going to play Herod. Ohhhhh what a pity if

Actually I can imagine Mel C playing Mary Magdalene - plus she does (or did) have a good emotional voice so I think vocally she'd suit the role.

I think Mel C would be a good MM - I liked her in Blood Brothers, but to be honest my eyes are all on the crack-casting of the male members of the cast.
Will you come with me? It's in Sept/Oct and so far only one date per venue, but with three or four days in between each show they've got room to expand.
Meanwhile, have you posted my June Homin challenge fic yet?

Does Herod sing much? We should take the DVD to RHB and watch it again, it's been ages and it is a great musical.
Yes I'd love to see it. I did want to get down to London sometime this year.
Not yet, I'm barely awake and need breakfast, then I will put it on Yunnie and edit and then I will post it OMG impatience!!!

He's a really seriously good muso. He wrote the score for Matilda which won a bunch of Olivier awards the other week. He's also got a great song called Prejudice that states that only a ginger can call another ginger ginger....
Herod's got one big solo - it's the really funny one with lines like Prove to me that you're no fool; walk across my swimming pool
It's a touring show so there is only one night so far in London. But Manchester, Birmingham or Sheffield would all be doable. Shame there isn't a show in Leeds.
Can we avoid London until after the Olympics? I may vaguely get some time off in Sept/Oct when it's all settled down.

I do however reserve the right to lift an eyebrow at Mel C as Mary Magdalene but I suppose they knew what they were doing to cast her. Right?
Have fun at the beach!!
And as always how is the knitting going? I am still in love with making dish cloths and am seriously considering a knitting machine.

I want a knitting machine only because I have a ton of ideas and not enough hands. I enjoy hand knitting and if I could finish all the projects in my head before the next batch crop up then I would be fine but it is beginning to drive me batty.
Thank you for the extra info I will look them up.
