A good day, overall. Probably boring to most of you, so feel free to skip.
I got an email last night from BabyLegs (a local baby/children's clothing retailer that makes socks/tights/leggings/leg-warmers) that Kate Quinn Organics (another local baby/kids clothing brand of high quality) was going to have a 80% off blow-out event in their warehouse! I already had a few of their pieces, so I knew how soft and awesome they are (not to mention, normally very expensive). It was a madhouse, but well worth stopping in. The prices were a steal. I snatched lots of gender neutral attire, along with specific girly clothing for when our daughter is a lot bigger. At $2 for bibs/hats/accessories, $5 for tops, $6 for onesies, and $7 for dresses, it was hard to say no! * happy dance *
I also had my OB appointment today, and that was pretty interesting. I'm 35 weeks, but apparently I'm already 50% effaced and 2 cm dilated. Baby is still head down and the doctor could touch her head with her finger during the internal check. I never noticed her "drop" like some women, but I've been carrying low throughout, so it just seemed normal to me. My OB thinks I'll deliver rather quickly, especially given my family history -- my maternal grandmother delivered both her kids in 4.5 hours, my mom delivered me in 6 and apparently Richard was only 2 (I originally thought it was 4, but I got it mixed up). Of course, actual delivery date could be on time or 2 weeks late regardless. It could be a slow, drawn out labor, but I'm staying positive for now.
And with the holidays, all the delivery services (UPS, USPS, FedEx, etc.) are hiring new temp workers and running weird schedules. We had a small order from Amazon a few days ago that went "missing" -- it was "delivered on porch" but obviously not our porch. Amazon and UPS washed their hands of it. Two days later, a friendly neighbor a few blocks over came by with our package -- it was left on her doorstep. Sadly, I didn't ask for her exact address, just thanked her.
Today, Brian was eagerly checking UPS tracking for 4 packages from Newegg, including a giant monitor and desktop tower. Again, we got the "delivered on porch" status while I was directly waiting in the front of the house. Nadda. After many phone calls with UPS, it was discovered that yet again it was dropped off at 8011, instead of 8111, even though the packaging has the correct number. Turns out there is a computer glitch on their special bar code right now sending them to 8011. Our regular driver actually knows where we are, but these new temp hires don't bother to cross check the number on the label with the place they are delivering. * sigh * Thankfully, they redelivered *6* packages (turns out we had 2 other packages mis-delivered as well) to us this evening.
