fredding onwards

i feel i want to update, although my life seems to consist mostly of feeding, changing and begging freddie to sleep at the moment!

he's a month old today (three weeks since we came home), and yet it already feels like he's been here forever. generally we're doing ok - we've had a few challenging nights, and he's quite noisy when he's working on something digestive, so feeling a bit sleep deprived, but compared to some babies i've heard about we've been very lucky. we had one night where he was only up once, but i think that was something of an anomaly! he seems to need feeding twice in the night at the moment, but even when he's up at 7am (early for me!) he does seem to go back down quite easily for another couple of hours, when i can get breakfast or catch a few more zzzs.

we've been getting out most days - went to ikea yesterday to buy a cot, amongst other things, and to mothercare today to spend a voucher my brother sent - i've been amusing myself this afternoon by giving freddie spiky hair dos with his new hairbrush.

the house is coming on - the plastering will be done in the second week of november, and after that we can push on with the painting, putting in the kitchen, tiling the splashback, cleaning up, etc, and, finally, actually moving in. our deadline is 17th december (coincidentally our wedding anniversary), so hopefully that's plenty of time.

finished Last Human by Doug Naylor - been revisiting all the red dwarf books. currently on Backwards. think i might re-read the northern lights trilogy next, after watching the Golden Compass last week. re-reading is a good thing at the moment, as it doesn't require me to successfully process new information!
