Hello! If anyone wants any information about Canterbury - where Kent University campus is compared to train stations, which pubs have wifi, which are nice places to go... etc etc - please do ask on this post. I've lived in and around the city all my life, and I am happy to share my expertise on the place if anyone wants it :)

I should explain that Canterbury is really not big. The High Street takes about fifteen minutes to walk from one end to the other of; the Oxfam book shop is nearer the Westgate Towers end, but it's a difference of five minutes walk to twelve or so minutes.
I love the Hospice Charity Shop, which is before you reach the Westgate Towers. It has a fairly large selection of books; is slightly annoying in that they are in absolutely no order (except that the children's books are mostly corralled down one end). And they are cheap!
Directions:
If you take a bus from the Uni, presuming they haven't changed their path (*is a bit useless on buses as they involve being able to get to the bus stop!*), you can ask to be dropped at the Westgate, which is the 'lower' end of town nearest to the university and close to Canterbury West train station, or at the Bus Station, which is the 'higher' end of the city and the far end, near Canterbury East train station. For both of these book shops, you want to be at the Westgate end. The Hospice Shop will be back the way you came, cross over at the zebra crossing and it's just to your right. For the Oxfam bookshop, go through the Westgate Towers and walk up the High Street. It will be on your right.
