The Adventures of the Magic, Wild Chocobo!! Part 1........

Mar 04, 2005 21:50

I finally caught a drift of inspiration, from Final Fantasy and mostly from my conversation with ajlordnikon. This was written entirely on a whim! Talk about spontaneous writing! I would like some feedback, too, and yes, constructive criticism is most welcome. I haven't finished this, yet, so the second part is soon to come.

There was once a wild chocobo prancing in the enchanted forest, where my family of fae dwell. I was out a frolicing and picking some berries with all my faerie cousins, when suddenly, a gigantic, yellow chocobo came crashing through our berry bushes!
We all let out a huge gasp, and the surprise encounter of this strange bird made us drop our berries all over the grassy lea we were frolicing on. The chocobo said, "WARK"!! He, then, started to eat all the berries that have fallen from our hands. The chocobo began looking nauseated a few moments after he consumed the berries.
Now, these berries have special powers to them, because, they have the faerie's touch, so, any creature who eats these berries developes some sort of supernatural power. Well, these "magic" berries certainly had quite the effect on the chocobo. He let out another "WARK", and then, his feathers, magically, transformed into a shade of blue.
"Gasp! Oh my goodness!", said my cousin, Mae the Fae. We all stared in shock.
"Wow", I said, "it transformed into a sea chocobo."
This, now, has arroused our curiousities, for you see, we have always been land dwellers, yet, we've always been fascinated to discover what sea life would be like. I turned my head and looked from Mae to June, and I knew we all had the same thought in mind; we needed to catch this chocobo and have him lead us to the sea. We must find out, once and for all, what mysteries lie beneath the sea.
We decided to take action by distracting the chocobo by throwing a handful of berries on the ground. Once the berries hit the grassy floor of the Earth, the chocobo, immediatly began to peck at the sweet necter of juicy, berry goodness. While it was indulging in the cherry colored fruit, we found some vine and knotted it into a lasso. Opportunity was in our hands! Since June was a master of aim, we decided she would be the one to twirl the lasso and make our chocobo catch.
June, then, focused her eyes on the animal's neck; she, then, swung and swung, then she let the looped end fly like a gliding hawk, until the circular vine landed, perfectly around the bird's neck. Score! We caught the chocobo!
Now, all we had to do was keep it steady and prop ourselves on it's back.
"WARK, WAAAARK!", cried the chocobo, as it struggled and jerked it's head.
"I don't feel right about this. This seems cruel", I said.
"You're right. We need to calm him down, somehow, and then we could untie the lasso", Mae said in agreement.
The only thing we could do to calm it down was to approach it, slowly, and pet it behind it's ears. This worked like a charm! He let out a sound, which almost could resemble that of the soft resonance of a pigeon. One by one, we were able to prop up on it's back, and since I was pretty apt at stearing animals, I had the responsibility of taking the reigns and stearing this creature safely towards the sea.
Luckily, I barely had to do anything, because, as if by instinct, the bird knew to run towards the shore of the sea. We've only seen the shores of the sea from a great distance, so, when we actually reached it in close proximity, we were all awe-stricken. It was the most beautiful thing we've ever seen! The water was the color of a deep teal, and it was clearer than glass, and sparkled like the brilliance of a multi-caroted diamond!
We hopped off the chocobo and stared for awhile. Due to our ride on this animal, he grew comfortable with us, so that when we dismounted from it, it didn't make any attempts to run away. It seemed to gaze with us, and it seemed to communicate to us, through his eyes. It's eyes glanced at us and then made their way over to some closely ripened crops that were growing a few feet away from the shore.
"Hmmm", I wondered, "does he want us to taste these greens, or is he hungry, himself?"
I went over and pulled one of the greens from the ground and brought it over to the chocobo. I waved the vegetable near it's beak, but, it shook it's head. It, obviously, didn't want it, so, I started to put the greens near my mouth, then, it calmed down and looked at me, attentively, as if urging me to eat this green.
"What does it want with those greens?", asked June.
"I think it wants us to taste them."
"What for?"
"I'm not sure. Maybe there's something magical, that we don't know about, in these greens."
"Well, do you think we should try it?"
"I don't see the harm in it."
June and I looked to Mae for her approval, but, typical of her, she looked skeptical.
"I'm not sure about this. How do we know these greens aren't poisenous or something?", inquired Mae.
"Now, why would it want to poisen us? That seems silly", I retorted.
The chocobo must've had an understanding of the fae language, because, it instintaneously, trotted over to the greens and scarfed them into his beak, to demonstrate how safe the greens were. After he swallowed them, it ran past us and into the water. We watched it's body descending deeper and deeper until we could no longer see it's head. It was gone, and as we looked out at the sea, we saw nothing but the teal mass spread before us.
