London trip

Ok, I'm checking out hotels for my trip to London at the end of the month. Any tips from those of you who live there about areas I should avoid staying at? Or maybe you can suggest a cheap hotel/bed&breakfast? Dosn't need to be pretty, just clean and not too expensive... *glances at schehrezade_1*
It's been six years since I've been there last and I didn't have to do the booking myself then...
