I'm all dressed up and ready to play
Michele started sending me clients, I have one to call tomorrow morning. Two voicemails from former clients wanting to get back in - "I heard you were on leave until January, are you seeing people in your office again yet?"
Uhg, I guess so. (haha)
I told the return-eys I would start back on the 29th.
Trying to get all my school stuff squared away. I got my SOQs and I was less happy than I could have been. Usually my average is 3.6-3.7 out of 4. Fall 2017 was only 3.5. I'm trying not to get messed up over it. It's not like everything wasn't complete shit last semster!
But I do want to know what was different. Kind of over all slightly down and then my 495 classes took a hit. Usually they are really high (3.8-3.9). That was the class I changed books on and changed the format. I think going to the hybrid with only 5 meetings and dropping the presentation was what did it. So i'm going back to the old schedule and adding back in the small group conferences. Keeping the new book though. Cuz I like my new book.
New grad class is about half way done. The syllabus is done and the first...8 classes I think? So I need to do outlines for the next 7 classes. The last class I'm doing like a presentation fair for their final topics. Should be fun. Writing a grad class is SO much different than undergrad. I get that now. My first semester teaching grad I was trying to use my undergrad schema for classes and I ended up way overloading and stresng myself out for no good reason. Trying something different for this one. Flipped classroom reading, pre class activity, go round, in class activity, coaching corner role play, small group, after class journal. Wash rinse repeat.
I'm also still out here struggling to get some guest speakers. I keep calling and emailing but everybody still on break mode I guess. I have one dude I'm meeting with next friday from Asian/Pacific Islander Assoc. Still waiting to hear back from Latinx, LGBT, Black Student Assoc, and Arab American Assoc. Guess I'll bug them tomorrow. I think today was a holiday at the university? Should be, anyway.
