This is another two-fer, however I don't think I should get penalized for it since both are by the same band.
"Long December" - Counting Crows When I was living in California I only had one Counting Crows album on my iPod (oh the horror!) which was the 2003 best of album Films About Ghosts and I ended up listening to it almost every day while riding the bus. I tended to zone out on the rest of the album until it got to this song because it pretty much summed up how I was feeling - I'd been feeling restless and caged and I'd gone out there to try and start over and hoping that things would be better. So, that whole album really, but this song especially reminds me of riding around San Francisco on the bus, reveling in my new life of anonymity and exploring the city.

"Mrs. Potter's Lullaby" - Counting Crows This reminds me of being in Arizona, on the northern rim of the Grand Canyon. I had been camping before, but I'd never been where I was that high up and had the sky that amazingly clear. I felt like I could reach up and actually touch the stars and immediately the line "we drove out to the desert just to lie down beneath this bowl of stars" hit me and I thought 'oh. so that's what they meant.'
