Tomorrow, I am going back to my apartment. Right now, I'm spending another night as the referee for NEST, our church's homeless shelter, which basically means I'm in charge of fifty some people and the other ladies staying the night. Well, not basically since I've got the master key and I'm the one doing the rounds but I've been doing this for years so it's not a big deal. I know the church in and out and the NEST program just as well. Surprisingly, there's been no drama whatsoever other than the coffee maker exploding the other morning and the rice not cooking right tonight but I wasn't in charge of that.

I'm a bit out of sorts, just down about random stuff. K dropped out of college because she decided it wasn't for her, I guess, and she didn't want to listen to me try to convince her to stay. She got her things and brought them back to the house so it's official. Other things: an ex-boyfriend asked Laura to marry him; a guy I just met told me that his girlfriend was just killed on a recon mission- three bullets to the head; I've fallen out with a friend and I can only guess the reason why; and I'm working at a homeless shelter on a Saturday night, surrounded by the most destitute of people and I can't even help them in a way that actually matters.

I did meet this really great Sigma Nu guy, a German Air Force officer who works for NATO. Marcel is obsessed with Southern culture and country music, which of course led to a lot of teasing by the other guys and me. His black cowboy hat and boots didn't help. He talked non-stop for five hours straight but he had a lot of interesting things to say so it wasn't bad at all. I'll likely never see him again, though.
