Heroes 4.08
Once Upon a Time in Texas, heavy retcon happened and elephant-size butterflies were killed.
The title is borrowed from a very famous western by Sergio Leone, seen as a nostalgic exploration of the past. I usually like when they go back in the past to revisit something we know so well to add layers, add being the key word here. Not raping one of the most cherished story (Charlie/Hiro) and messing up with whole series...
I should have listen to lemomina and have a drink or two before watching it to make it less painful, but I didn't and the pain is still there. I was asked why I still watch Heroes if I hate it, but the fact is I don't hate it, it's Heroes that hate me, sorta. I used to loved it so much and is very hard to quit it.
1 minute in and they:
a. completely disregard the whole timeline [3 years? really? vol 5 started 3 weeks after the Sylar BBQ. Now, we could even consider the events from volume 3 and volume 4 more than few months but certainly they didn't occurred in 2 years: Claire was 16 years old in s1 and is still 17 years old during Fugitives (see Exposed).
I've seen people going crazy screaming for "OMGWRONGTIMELINE" for Villains (where, on the contrary, everything was correct from that pov) being perfectly ok with this "3 years ago" thing. whatever... ]
b. deleted S2 (wasn't yaeko hiro's true love? wasn't that the reason Adam became what he was, wasn't that the basement of the whole second season?)
c. deleted Hiro's character development from S1 (how many times hiro tried to saves her? "the brain man always killed her" when did that happened? didn't hiro learnt something pretty important like you can't save anyone )

Sylar
- Who was that chatty boy in black? Certainly not the killer machine we loved back in S1, the one who just wanted more BRAAAAAAAINZ, no matter what. That Sylar would had never EVER left two yummy powers like that. Especially Hiro's power. I mean, freezing time and teleporting! I know he has is own magic carpet but...
- Apparently Sylar got as many ability as the plot needs him to have. He is a living CAT and a doctor! (that totally push me to make something, you'll see... )
- the hats are important! when he got his hat on, is bad, when he hasn't, he helps people!
Hiro
- how selfish was Hiro? who cares if someone else dies as long Charlie is alive...
- but present!Hiro sent past!Hiro in the past so everything should be the same? really?
- And Hiro now must help Samuel or she will be lost in time... because Hiro, is not that you could timetravel to the moment just before Samuel kidnapped her and save her, right?
- Meanwhile Charlie will join Caitlin in the "Lost in Time Thanks to Moron BFs Club" and they'll go together to the "4rd WKPFPBH(*) Annual Convention".

HRG
- more retcon happened... and they raged about Gabriel Elle in s3?
- you think by now the writers had learned that introducing not!Elle in this way is the fastest way to make her unlikable.
- also not!Elle disturbingly looks like an adult Claire
- and he didn't recognized Gabriel... and he should knew how Sylar looks like because he effing created him... :/, or, if V3 rectcon never happened, Eden knew him (see Eden death scene) and if Eden knew, HRG knew as well, because they were spying Chandra....
- Hello Eden and Isaac! Isaac was my fav in S1! But they use a different cut of that scene (or just changed HRG's words).
I've used that very scene for a vid so I know very well what HRG said originally in S1: even then they make him said "Nobody knows where he is" not "nobody knows what he looks like".
- anyway HRG was at the Primatech soon after the speech with Isaac and Claire arrived there for a "paper emergency", she certainly wasn't at school with that cheerleader outfit. (sidenote, is in HP contract that she must be in every episode?)
The Emo of the week is Samuel: don't cry, you're ruining your eyeliner!
- Lydia comforting him was sweet
- the fact that he wants hiro to replace the dying carnie timetraveller is understandable. Why he didn't use Arnold's power to fix Momo's death or why he cares about Momo so much, when even his supposed friends don't, is obscure.
- but at least we'll have Mohinder back!

I won't say anything. Yet. Other than that the last four years have been wonderful and ALL the folks that go into making HEROES have treated me professionally and with respect. I am still under contract to NBC/Universal, and will remain so until the end of season 4. On another note, I spent today with Masi Oka at Universal Studios, on the lot, and we had some fun behind the scenes at the Jaws attraction on the Tour... I'll post it in a bit.
