Kill! Kill! Kill!

Here's a funny story.

So I recently bought a Mac, right? (Oh, Macbeth!) And I was all "YAY! I'll use Final Cut for vidding and it will be awesome!", which turned out to be partially true. I really am loving Final Cut, but I still find myself trying to use good ol' Vegas hotkeys ("S" key, I will forever miss you! *sniff*), and then getting all frustrated when they don't work.
Then of course there was the issue with the codecs, which never really crossed my mind when I bought Macbeth (Oh, Macbeth!), I completely forgot I had to go through that with Horatio at one point. How to open Divx on a Mac? How to make Final Cut work with Divx? HOW TO REMOVE THAT FREAKING DIVX WATERMARK? It was so easy on Horatio...
It took me a couple of days, but I figured out all those things. Turns out it's best to rip the DVDs all over again and get a .mov or a .mp4 than to work with a Divx file on FC, which meant about 3 to 4 full days of ripping/converting. Fun times.
Then of course there was FC itself! It's a really great tool and everything, but all those settings and compressors and presets make my head hurt. You have about a thousand different possible settings for your project and you have to pick one and I was freaking out "WTF ARE ALL THOSE THINGS???". Fun times! Thankfully, the good people at the Foolish Passion forum had some awesome tutorials, and seduff was kind enough to help me out last night when the frustration was about to hit an all-time high! (Love you, hun! It's the second time you save my life!)

I went through all of that just so I could finally start working on my Fringe vid on FC. And you know what happened? GUESS WHAT HAPPENED?

When I had finally figured out how to solve those issues, when FC and I were finally speaking the same language, GUESS WHO DECIDED IT WAS A NICE MOMENT TO PACK HIS BAGS AND GO TO THE BAHAMAS???

*breathe**breathe**breathe*

I hate my muse.

Thankfully, though, that's not the end of this story, because a couple of hours later, I was all angry and frustrated, but I had decided I just had to do SOMETHING on FC after going through all the trouble to get it working properly, so I imported the first music track I could think of (actually, the only other track I have on Macbeth. I only have 2 at the moment... *fail*) and started doing anything with it.
And you know what? It's actually working!

I suppose Pooky is not so evil after all... I'll give it a couple of days before passing judgement, though, you know he's unpredictable and he could still run off when I least expect it. But it's going good so far. :)

vidding, pooky, tv: fringe, computer: macbeth, vidding: final cut
