A Quick Mini-Movie-Review of
The Illusionist (2006) 5/5, Great!
First off, I had this movie for at least 2 weeks before I watched it. That's because I knew it was a "slow paced" movie that demanded attention and awakeness. And I was right about that, but "slow paced" doesn't mean slower than necessary; it just means to jet fighters or gun scenes that I can ignore while sweeping my floor (or something), so for me, the movie was highly engaging.
It's set in past, like, 192x or something, and I don't really want to spoil it, so I'll say no more, except that the basic plot is a love story; the illusions are really cool; and don't try to watch it if you're tired or want some "action", but do watch it if you want something that you can appreciate as a work of beauty.
On the other hand, they are other movies that are more remarkable in various ways... but I don't fault this movie, because it's more than the linear sum of its parts.
Why haven't you watched it yet?
