Writer's Block: Place of Residence

Cool, quiet, spacious. Actually, I don't think so much about where to live, as I do, where and how to work. So, I need someplace free of interruptions or distractions (hence quiet), with room for me to work on physical model as well as host reference material, and I like wide open spaces, cathedral roofs, that sort of thing.

I'll have to refine the ( Read more... )

Location (city vs. country) is mostly dictated by how far I would have to drive to get anywhere useful (grocery store, restaurants, etc.). I've lived both out in the country and in the city and can live in either. However, the city seems most prudent considering gas prices these days.

Yet, privacy is important. I'm not much of a social bee, I just want to have my space and that be my space. I'm not interested in a community, so the country with lots of acres around me and anyone else would seem best. I dunno.

I don't have to have absolute quiet, but living next to a nightclub would be a no. ^_^

I have a cozy small space right now, and want something bigger, something I could work with more, and rearrange if I like. Right now my space is so small and so packed with stuff, I can't rearrange if I get the urge like I used to; things fit the way they do now, and wouldn't fit any other way. Lots of space would be very welcome.

When I visualize this cathedral ceiling, large space, big windowed home, I see huge rooms hardly divided by walls and very tall trees outside the windows. Unless I'm rich, though, and can afford to send someone else to do my shopping for me, I probably won't live in the middle of the woods. Also, woods living isn't safe, because it honestly makes it easier for potential thieves to spy on your house and learn your routines. I know, it's happened to my family before.

I tried to answer those same questions myself, and kept getting sidetracked... for me right now, I think my focus is so much on increasing profit and productivity in my current environment, now that I've committed to living here for 3-5 years, than it is a strain to think about living anywhere else...

plus, they say stuff like that in anime all the time, and I've been meaning to use it in "real life" (or teh Internets, close enough).

Yeah, so, blame it on the Japanese media products.... O_o.
