Book List, cont.

Dec 05, 2009 21:38

I just found my to-read list from February 23rd, 2009. The temptation was too great; I couldn't resist updating.

This list contains books from to-read list plus books purchased after February 23rd. In next editions of my glorious book log read positions shall be stripped and only to-read + new will be posted.
*pouts* I can't help it.

Italics - no chance of reading.
Strikethrough - read.

1) Piers Anthony, "Night Mare" - this book is TRASH. Same as the rest of Xanth, actually.
2) Terry Brooks, High Druid of Shannara Trilogy - I was totally hyper about it... but when I finally got a chance to purchase it, it turned out that I'm feeling too old. Maybe, maybe I will read these one day... but I won't be buying more Shannara.
3) Mervyn Peake, Gormenghast - I NEED to read it. I feel like an idiot for not reading it.
4) Terry Brooks, Kingdom For Sale Series (sans first volume) - geez, first volume missing for years, and now I'm too old.
5) C.J. Cherryh, Morgaine Series - I got stuck somewhere in the middle of first book. I actually thought it was awesome, but required more thinking, and left it to savour later. I need to get back to it.
6) Gene Wolfe, "Shadow of the Torturer" - I just don't feel like reading it. 2% Edit: Zellas's review is not optimistic either...
7) A. Norton, S. Miller, "To The King a Daughter" - 2% again, it's first volume in a tetralogy and frankly I don't feel like getting into the whole thing.
8) Roger Zelazny, "Unicorn Variations" - anthology of Zelazny's short stories. Supposed to be good. But I hate his standalones...
9) Michael Moorcock, "The Revenge of the Rose" - the last of the Elric core novels. Maybe. MAYBE.
10) Michael Moorcock, "Eternal Champion" - hell no, John Daker is horrible.
11) Feliks W. Kres, "Klejnot i wachlarz" - I hate Kres's writing.
12) Stephen King, "The Eyes of the Dragon" - I'm too old.
13) Anna Brzezińska, "Zbójecki gościniec" - 2% chance. I don't even remember why I bought this book.
14) Orson Scott Card, "Alvin Journeyman" - JUST NO.
15) Andre Norton, "The Beast Master" - not my thing.
16) R. Zelazny, R. Shelley, Good and Evil Series - I bought this trilogy as a whole, but first volume sucked. That's enough for me.
17) Michael Moorcock, Corum Series - got enough of Eternal Champions, thank you.
18) Ed Greenwood, "Crown of Fire" - it's BORING.
19) Michael Scott Rohan, "The Anvil of Ice" - first volume in a tetralogy, and now I am too old.
20) Patricia A. McKillip, "The Forgotten Beasts of Eld" - 2%. I don't understand McKillip.
21) Robert Holdstock, "Lavondyss" - NO.
22) Robert Jordan, "Eye of the World" - prologue sounds like "Silmarillion". No thank you.
23) David Eddings, Belgariad III-V - kiddies' read. First two volumes were enough.
24) David Eddings, Malloreon I-II - same as above.
25) Neal Stephenson, Quick Silver - still waiting for quieter times.
26) Ewa Białołęcka, Kroniki Drugiego Kręgu II-III - not bloody likely, I didn't even like the first volume.
27) C.S. Friedman, Coldfire Trilogy - MAYBE.
28) Kate Elliott, Crown of Stars Series - another MAYBE.
29) Guy Gavriel Kay, "Sailing to Sarantium" - just... no.
30) Martin Scott, "Thraxas Under Siege" - will read it. I don't remember anything from previous volumes though. (Read in August 2009!)
31) anthology, "Crossroads and Other Tales of Valdemar" - will read it in a bus.
32) Mercedes Lackey, "Exile's Valor" - will read it.
33) Glen Cook, The Black Company Series IV-VII - just not my thing.
34) anthology, "Tales of Witch World" - it wasn't written by Norton, therefore it sucks.
35) Martha Wells, "The Ships of Air" - very very big maybe. I fell asleep halfway through this book.
36) Eoin Colfer, "Opal Deception" - maybe.
37) M. Lackey, L. Dixor, Owl Trilogy - I don't remember what it's about... But it's Valdemar, so I will probably read it.
38) Neil Gaiman, "Anansi Boys" - I didn't like "American Gods", so what's the point?
39) Guy Gavriel Kay, "Tigana" - on page 150, I just knew I wasn't going to like it.
40) Michael Moorcock, "The Skrayling Tree" - this book is total bullshit. I might finish it.
41) Michael Moorcock, "The White Wolf's Son" - I suspect bullshit.
42) Lynn Flewelling, "Traitor's Moon" - boring... I want to finish it though.
43) Glen Cook, "Whispering Nickel Idols" - written in some kind of slang that doesn't even sound like English to me. Maybe one day I will be advanced enough to try again. Edit: I'm going to read it soon. Or soon-ish.
44) Christie Golden, Final Dance Series - will read it.
45) Lois McMaster Bujold, "Paladin of Souls" - "Curse..." was mediocre, so I'm not wasting my time on it.
46) Richard Scott Bakker, "The Warrior-Prophet" - first volume of this series sucked ass, or maybe I'm just too dumb.
47) George R. R. Martin, "Sandkings" - I'm too chickenshit to read it.
48) Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, "States of Grace" - vampire lit.
49) P.N. Elrod, "Red Death" - vampire lit again. (Read in May 2009!)
50) A. Norton, M. Lackey, "Elvenborn" - got stuck on page 200-something in the middle of political dispute. (Read in September 2009!)
51) Paul Kearney, The Monarchies of God Series III-V - the series doesn't fulfill my expectations.
52) Tanya Huff, "Scholar of Decay" - Ravenloft, will read it.
53) Tad Williams, "The War of the Flowers" - I know it's supposed to be boring as hell...
54) Diana L. Paxson, Westria Series II-VI - hope to read it one day.
55) Christie Golden, "Dance of the Dead" - Ravenloft, will read it.
56) anthology, "Tales of Ravenloft" - Ravenloft again. (Read in October 2009!)
57) Susanna Clarke, "The Ladies of Grace Adieu and Other Stories" - will read it. (Read in September 2009!)

59) Brian Ruckley, "Bloodheir" - will read it. Don't ask why it takes so long... I honestly don't know myself. (Read in August 2009!)
