Another short update (and this one's actually short)

So . . . I'm not lactose intolerant. I hadn't thought I was - given how much milk and dairy I have on a regular basis, I'd be much sicker if that was the problem - but when I drank the lactose solution and got a stomachache I was kind of worried for a while. But my H2 readings only jumped 3 ppm instead of the 10-20 ppm that would indicate an ( Read more... )

Is the laculose breath test the bacterial growth one, and lactose is to see if you're lactose intolerant? I've got both of those scheduled too. *Very much* not looking forward to the lactose one because I'm pretty sure I am.

On the other hand, maybe they both look for lactose intolerance, but I'm just not the first kind of lactose intolerant. I'm not really sure. The sheets I got on them weren't very clear.

Anyway, good luck on your own tests.

Thanks. As much as I *really* don't want to be lactose intolerant - really really really don't - for a little while, after it raised those three points and I had the stomachache and it hadn't been long enough to show that three points was all it was going to rise, I was thinking 'this is it. Maybe I really am lactose intolerant. At least now I'll know why it's not going away.' But that's not it after all, and I'm back to not knowing, which is really the worst part of all of it.

Don't you hate not knowing? That's really frustrating. It's taken near on 5 years to figure out the reason i'm so tired all the time is because I'm hypothyroid. Duh! Was tested before, fell in normal range, but in the "danger zone" for hypothyroid. Treatment would have helped me back then!

I hope you feel better and that everything turns out okay. Being sick really sucks.
