A Y-Rock veteran says goodbye

Jun 23, 2009 10:35

In the late spring and early summer of 2005, I negotiated with a good man named Jim McGuinn for a chance to do something I had only dreamed about. As spring turns to summer 4 years later, it looks like that dream is coming to an end.

For various personal reasons, I will be moving out of Center City Philadelphia at the end of this month. As a result, my term as the longest continuously serving Y-Rock DJ -- at least as a volunteer/listener from outside the original Y100 staff -- will end.

My last regular shift is tomorrow, Wednesday 6/24 10am-1pm EST, including the Old School Nooner.

The Circuit, my baby, Y-Rock's collection of alternative electronics and progressive rhythms, will run previously recorded episodes through the July 4th weekend Saturday nights at 10pm EST. I can't make any promises, but I hope to continue the show in some form after that point. I will also do my very best to be available to fill in for other Y-Rock DJs on an emergency basis and represent the station (and see all of your smiling faces) at shows and live events.

It's been an honor and a privilege to fight the good fight for good music alongside you folks.

life, y-rock
