Things certainly had changed, hadn't they?
There were things that she had never seen before - the people were dressed in such odd clothing (or, maybe, she was the one dressed oddly to them?) and they all smelled so strange. They were so unlike the scents of the people she had met and befriended all those many years ago in Nippon - all those people

Personal space was about to be invaded, as Amaterasu was the type who really did not quite understand the meaning of such things. It helped that he was a little shorter than herself though, even if he had been taller, it wouldn't have kept her from leaning in to get a better look at him. (And maybe even take in his scent in a very subtle motion.)
He was young...but he definitely had seen much that someone his age should never have to go through.
"Mmm..." Her thoughts were getting off topic and it was rude to ignore him like this. To his question she nods her head. Yes, yes, he definitely could help with something and as she opens her mouth to speak it dawns on her that this might prove to be a bit of a problem.
It was always something that Amaterasu seemed to forget from time to time; even in this form she wasn't able to verbally communicate with people like they do with another.

He has a few issues about his personal space being invaded by people who aren't Yulie Ahtreide without warning. It's a small few, though, when the person doing so is a pretty woman standing in front of him.
"Anyway... I'm Jude!" A grin. "What's your name?"

The only thing she would be to see this Archibald about is getting back home and maybe a hot meal before that but until then, she could amuse some time with this boy. Who called himself Jude.
"Ah." She points to herself, eyes widening slightly, when he asks for her name. My name? It was very rare these days that she came across such cute children with some sort of manners. They seemed to be more into themselves than they did respect for their elders...
She reaches into the kimono that rests over her body, fingers brush against the object she is looking for and Amaterasu pulls out a scroll and brush. The woman opens it and looks to Jude - she motions for him to pay close attention to just what it is she's about to do; this is the only way she's able to think of getting across a decent form of communication with him:
My name is Amaterasu.

"You can't talk?!"
Okay, that was way louder than he'd meant it to be. "Sorry," he says, ducking his head. "I... well, I haven't met many people who can't. Hi... Amaterasu."
He pronounces it horribly, in the way only an English-speaker with some training in Latin could. But he looks up at her, questioningly, not sure if it would be rude to ask someone who couldn't talk if he'd said it right.

But silver-white ears fall flat against the back of Amaterasu's head as he speaks and they only move forward when his voice softens and hits a relatively normal tone. That had definitely hurt - even if she was appearing in front of people in the form of a young woman, she still retained some of her animal senses.
She smiles then.
He had definitely mangled her name, but it was not as though she was anywhere near Nippon. The towns and villages she had come across were alien and foreign and it was common sense (despite the fact that there were times when it seemed as though she had none of that) to see that. The goddess' expression and body language says it all: it's alright, she was not upset in the least.
