Another one of the previews shown during ABC Family on Thursday was a look at David Yates' take on the Harry and Hermione dance from DH 1, featuring new BTS clips of said scene.
Are these clips the ones that are going to be on the Blu-Ray? If they are, I'd rather wait until next month to watch, but if not, I don't want to miss out!
I know right? There was never ANYTHING hinted at AT ALL in the books for Harry and Hermione. Why do the movie people insist on forcing it in there? This isn't a stupid Twilight love triangle movie ffs!
Except ... where there were? Even Rowling acknowledged that there were moments in the seventh book that could've led to a romantic relationship between the two. And the imagery used to describe their visit to James and Lily's grave is incredibly romantic.
Even then, the first film was an exploration of the relationships between members of the trio and a sort of character study. It's only realistic that a boy and a girl who are close friends stuck in a life-or-death situation -- just the two of them -- would consider that maybe there's something more. It's an honest exploration of a relationship between two teenagers. If they had indeed acted on these impulses, even as an H/Hr shipper I'd have been inclined to agree that the "movie people" were making something out of nothing. But they didn't. They recognized that there might be something, but in the end decided to let the moment pass.
As if Harry and Hermione would of gone through with it - She clearly loves Ron and Harry loves Ginny. Plus I really think he should read the damn books.
That's why I hated it. Harry and Hermione were fucking wrecked when Ron left because he's the glue that holds them all together. They sure as shit weren't dancing and having "moments".
They were dancing BECAUSE they were so devastated. Harry was trying to cheer her up. The "moment" was a result of this attempt, but the scene was more about two friends trying to comfort each other and being children for once in their lives rather than a romantic moment. I can't deny that I love it as an H/Hr shipper, but there are many, many levels to this scene.
it does give quite a sense of irony actuallystarnightmuseMarch 19 2011, 03:26:43 UTC
*Now what I say about Harmonians is not directed at you, but at the rabid kind*
well first, for being among the few, but clear headed voices of reason here. Good to know someone has my back, because trying to defend this scene was beginning to give me metaphorical grey hair*
I find really ironic and pitifully Sad is that a Harmonian (I'm saying this as the general fandom consensus that generalizes, you do not form part of it) Is actually being a lot more level headed, reasonable, logical and open minded and even open to the friendship, Than half of the Ron/Hermione shippers in this posts and all those others related ones.
i just hope this is the bucket of cold water than gets people to stop whining so much and get over it. and let us enjoy the wait for part ii,
*instead of making me wish it would get here already, so the fandom can die off and no more fights over this scene.
