I remember, 6 years ago, marching tirelessly every single Saturday for months, standing in the blazing sun for what seemed like infinity (and only being able to wriggle my toes to stay alive), in the Padang. I felt my minute self was important, I felt that marching in a contingent on National Day was my contribution as a humble citizen of Singapore. However, I felt only a tiny sense of pride-until the very day I heard the audience get on their feet for the National Anthem which boomed and reverberated throughout the Padang. I felt goosebumps all over and right then, all of me was tremendously proud to call Singapore my home.
Today, I found a video on the internet. I've heard this song played quite a few times, but I've never been so enthralled listening to the Indian National Anthem being sung. I'm playing this song over and over again, and every time I sing it I get goosebumps. (Yes perhaps my singing is that bad) I'm preoccupied making wild plan upon wild plan in my head-I have got to go back to visit India. I just have to. Captivating.

Thou art the ruler of the minds of all people,
Dispenser of India's destiny.
Thy name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Sindhu,
Gujarat and Maratha,
Of the Dravida and Orissa and Bengal;
It echoes in the hills of the Vindhyas and Himalayas,
mingles in the music of Jamuna and Ganges and is
chanted by the waves of the Indian Ocean.
They pray for thy blessings and sing thy praise.
The saving of all people waits in thy hand,
Thou dispenser of India's destiny.
Victory, victory, victory to thee.
