Her mission was to find and protect John Connor at all costs.
The leader of the resistance for Sky Net, a high priority assignment that had been given to her by John himself. Things were different then what she had expected, things were brighter, for the most part, in this time and place. Sky Net was in the workings of being built and the terminators were scattered few and far between, but too many were coming for them. There was an odd sort of chemistry between her and John, something she couldn't place. She wasn't human, it wasn't her job to know these things and yet she found herself curious as to what it would be called. He was restless, and was easily made shy, if she asked, he'd probably find some way to get out of talking to her. Maybe it was a human thing. Maybe it was a male thing. She paused in the middle of cleaning a gun out, her eyes turning towards the door curiously before taking steps towards it. Reloading the gun she tugged the door open and looked down the hallway, it was too quiet. "John?"
He couldn't take being this future leader. He didn't know what to do. All he knew right now was to trust his mother and find the people that build Skynet before it is created. He looked down from the desk he was sitting and stared blankly at the notebook infront of him. If they do stop Skynet then that would mean that Cameron will never be created. Somehow that really hurt him. All his life he didn't know anything but the Terminators and now he was trying to destroy them. He was trown out of his thoughts were dismiss by the call of his name. He walked to the hall to find Cameron was calling him. He stared at her questionly.
Tipping her head to the side as he appeared in her view she glanced around the house for a moment and then back to him. Well it appeared to be fine, but then again there were a lot of times in which appearances could be deceiving, hopefully this wasn't one of them. At the very least he appeared to be fine, if not a little flustered."Thought something was wrong. Silence, it's never good." Cameron looked him up and down before speaking again, "What's wrong?"
John looked around once again. "I don't know, where is my mom?" While he said that he went towards his mother room to find it empty. He turn to Cameron. "Where is she?"
"Gone." She replied flatly before turning towards the room she'd came from. "Didn't say where to. Made me promise not to kill anyone. That you should answer the door." Stopping at the door she turned around again and tipped her head, "Explain emotions."
John looked at her blankly. "Explain emotions?" Staring at her big chocolote brown eyes.
"Yes. Emotions. Humans have emotions, feelings. I know what they are but I don't understand them. None of us do. I don't think we're capable of it. Can you explain what they are? How they feel?" Her face held a slightly hopeful expression, to live among the humans but not be able to understand them completely was odd.
He hated how she made him feel. He took a deep and looked at her. "Emotion is a human behavior, it's hard to explain. It's something we just do."
"Oh." Was all she said as the hopeful look disappeared from her face and it turned blank once more. "I see. Sorry to bother you. Had to be sure you didn't sneak out again."
"Cameron, look it something you just feel. Something you want in a way" he said as he place his hand through his hair. "And you are not bothering me. You are the only sane thing I have"
Emotions were what you wanted? That didn't make sense to her, but she asked anyway. "What do you want?" She questioned bluntly before a small smile appeared on her face at the next thing he said.
"Right now, you as a friend right now," dropping his head and smiling to himself. He couldn't believe he was flirting with a robot. "I think I need to go do my homework."
"I am your friend." Cameron replied before glancing at the room, "I finished mine. When we got home. Cleaning the wepons now, dirty wepons won't help if they stall. Could mean death."
John laugh at her words. "Yeah you go do that, no one would want me death." He try to walk to his room but it seemed hard for him.
His words made no sense to her, but she noticed the hesitation in his steps. "I can help you with your homework." Cameron offered after a moment of silence.
"No, it's okay. Thanks." With that said he walked towards his room.
Watching him for a moment she turned and entered her own room, placing the handgun back on the table. Emotions were something you wanted. What did she want? She was programmed to protect him but her model was different then the others, the capacity to eat and live as a human without much suspicion, but could she be human in the way that John was?
What was John thinking. 'Emotion, somthing you wanted'. It was even hard for him to explain what emotion really was. He could have said something more understanding as emotions is what a person feels when they are sad, happy, in love. Love. What was he thinking about love. As future leader of the world love was something out of he reach. He finally reach to his desk to find the mathbook in his desk. "Time to act as normal as I can" he told himself and began to do his work.
She had seen anger before, and sadness, and concern for another but those three couldn't possibly be all of the emotions in the humans? After packing up her guns she found herself leaning in the doorway of Johns room, her eyes looking around carefully before landing on him as he worked. "I think I have an emotion for you. I don't know what to call it."
John turn around to look at her. And look at her with confusion. "what do you mean for me? What do you think of me?"
"For you. An emotion that's for you, not anyone else." Cameron said slowly. "I think it is concern. If you were to die, not only would I have failed my mission but I would be sad, I think."
John looked at her. He didn't know to say. He stood up from his desk and walk towards her and place his hand in her check. "Why did I send you?" he asked more for himself than for her.
Was he sick? He already knew the answer to that. "To protect you, to keep you alive from any that were sent to kill you." Her eyes searched his own, now more curious then she'd been before.
"I know that but why you and not another terminator? Why are you so special?" he said as he got closer to her as he continue to stare at her eyes. Eyes that he could drown in all day.
"I can't tell you that." She didn't move as he got closer but instead watched him with interest, monitoring him.
"Do you know why?"
"Yes, it's one of the only things I was sent back with. All of our memories are wiped before we are sent back, increases the chance of completing the mission."
"Then why can't you tell me?" He said in a wispher as he leaned his forhead to hers.
She underestimated him, something she wouldn't do again. "I wasn't sent back here to alter the past, just to make sure you survive to the time of Judgement Day. The information could ripple what happens." Cameron replied, pulling away from him slowly.
John look at her hurt that she pulled away from him. "Aren't we suppose to stop Judgement Day? Isn't it why we are in this year?"
"I wasn't sent back for that reason. My mission is to protect you and assist however I can with what you decide to do." What was that emotion that he had across his face, it wasn't the typical one he wore. "If you stop Judgement Day I will never be built, and time will change. I guess that would mean my mission was successful."
"You will disappear if we stop it?" How can she just go?
"No, I will never have existed. The entire world would ripple with the effect of stopping judgement day. If Sky Net never launches then there will be no need for me to be built."
John couldn't say anything at the moment he pulled away from where he was and headed towards his desk. If they do Judgment Day then there will be no Cameron. Isn't that good? If that is good then why did he feel so hurt and lost.
"That's sadness." Taking a step after him she looked around his room, "You are sad. Why? If I do not exist then the war on mankind doesn't happen. Lives will be saved."
He looked up at her. He didn't know what to tell her. "I am just overwhelmed."
Nodding her head slowly she tipped her head to the side and stopped walking, "Can I help?"
He looked down at his homework and then back at her with a smile in his face. "I don't think my mom will like that. Just because I am future leader doesn't mean that I get away from doing my homework."
"She wouldn't like that." Cameron decided before she smiled and took a seat on his bed. "I have nothing to do."
John continue to smile at her and sat at his desk. "You can watch me do my homework"
She smiled in return for the first time since they started talking, "I will. I don't sleep. I run out of things to do."
"I can see that," with that said he sat an started to do his homework.
"Do you like any girls?" She questioned randomly, her head tipped in thought, her eyes watching his pencil moving.
"Why do you ask that?" John said as he placed his pencil down.
"Men like girls. Plenty of them at school." Shrugging she stood up and walked around his room in a slight pace. "Natural."
'I sure do like a girl' he thought as he looked at her. "I don't really like a girl right now" turning his head not to meet her eyes.
Nodding her head she stopped on one side of his wall and leaned against it. "I'm the third you've met? Terminator I mean."
"Yeah, one of them tried to kill me." He said as he stared at her figure in the wall. How can she not be real? he asked himself.
His prototype is outdated now, not made in the future." It wouldn't provide much comfort for him but perhaps it could on some level. "Your mother and that man.. they have feelings for each other?"
He was trown back by her choice of topic. "I guess they are. Why are you interested in this?"
"I told you, I don't sleep. I read, the book I read talked about emotions, I don't know what they are. I'm trying to understand. That's part of my programming, to blend in as a human as much as possible. I can't do that if I don't know these things." Cameron replied as she made a face. "If it makes you uncomfortable I won't ask."
"No it's okay, I was just curious," he looked up at her "Cameron do you think that you could fall in love?"
"It is possible. I am capable of learning and replicating what I've learned." Shrugging lightly she moved off of the wall. "Almost anything is possible."
"You tell me now, do you like any boys from school?"
Blinking a couple times at his question she shook her head, "I do not talk to anyone but you."
"Oh," He was trying to tease her but he saw that it wouldn't work she couldn't comprehend what he was trying to do.
"Do you want me to like someone?" Cameron questioned before she took a couple steps towards him.
"No" he quickly responded. "I mean I don't know, it's up to you." He said trying to sound normal. He didn't want her to be with anyone but he couldn't do anything about her decisions.
"Oh." Now it was her turn to be confused. "Do you keep your emotions to yourself because of your future?"
He walked towards her. "No, I keep my emotions to my self because I don't want to get hurt"
Making a face at that she searched his face, "Why would you get hurt? Aren't they supposed to be good? Relationships?"
"I can't be with some one when I am the one who is suppose to save the world. I just get people hurt. Don't you understand that." John was getting agree. He was just a few inches from her. He could easily reach her.
"Yes, and no. You will be a hero in the future, you should allow yourself to feel for someone even if it's for a while. Would it not be worth it to try?"
"How will you know if you can't feel?" He said to her as he graved her arms pulling her infront of him.
Stopping as she was tugged infront of him she tilted her head to the side, "I can feel. I can learn to feel."
"You can't feel you are just a machine" John said. He looked at her lips wanting to kiss them. But holding against it.
"I'm different then the others." Cameron replied simply, "I am able to mimic humans much more effectivly then any other prototype. I can learn anything if it's taught to me."
"That's the thing you are mimicing. You won't ever feel for me what a 'person' would feel"
"Maybe not, but I can try." He didn't seem to understand that she was programmed to learn and build, to create a better version of herself.
John looked at her. He looked down to his hands and let her go "I am sorry" he said as he dropped his head down.
Cameron frowned at that and she reached her hand out to touch his neck, doing a surface scan as she spoke, "Why?"
He looked up at her, "Because am taking this out on you." He saw her lips once again. But instead of standing still he leaned over and kissed her on the lips.
Standing there for a moment her mind began to search all of the mission requirements, acceptable things and not acceptable things but there was nothing there about this, just the lingering memories from the future. Her mind told her to mimic his action, and within seconds she had started to kiss him back.
The kiss grew deeper and soon John was lost in their kiss holding her closer to him. He slowly lead her to his bed.
Images flashed in her mind as they kissed, memories and thoughts, but nothing that would help her. "I could hurt you," Cameron said as she pulled her head back.
He leaned his forhead once again to her and stayed there taking a deep breath. He finally pulled himself from her with all the strength and will power he could. "I am sorry. Can you please leave me alone? I need to ... think." He said as he slowly walked away from her.
Cameron watched him walk away before she turned and exited his room, shutting the door behind her as she disappeared into her own.
John sat in his bed thinking about just happen. He didn't know what to do anymore. He was falling for a terminator.
