Some quips inspired by "Shells"

You know, I keep hearing that Wesley's best friend is a gun, but which one? He has so many.

Though he must have left his bazooka in his other coat when they confronted Illyria in the lobby of the damned. I don't understand where the SWAT team they were keeping on standby was.

Someone else made the reference to Ozymandias I wish I had been first onto LJ with, but I haven't seen (not that I've looked) anyone talk about Swamp Thing, Dark Phoenix, or any other examples from comic books (I've just exhausted my knowledge) where some entity constructed upon and/or consuming the form of another retained the brain patterns of that other.

(Speaking of the X-Men, it is my recollection form the commentary on X2 that the contacts Halle Berry wore while Storm manipulated the weather were completely opaque, and I wondered if Amy Acker was literally acting blind.)

As much as I had hoped Amy Acker was done with the cutesy baby-doll voice, I did like the reification and revivification of the dead metaphor: Illyria's spark of humanity was just that.

I was left at the end with the sorrowful feeling that Illyria was "redeemable" and Wes was not. Perhaps the ancient, perpetually belligerent demon can teach him how to see the world through the eyes of a human again. Of course, I'm not sure Wes can even look at something anymore without drawing a bead.
