I've seen all sorts of "Smile Time" icons; what I have yet to see are the slashy photomanips showing puppet-Angel and Ernie from Sesame Street enjoying intimate moments. Come on LJers! I want to see Angel/Ernie OTP NC-17 animated .GIFs on my Friends' Friends page ( Read more... )

Have you ever wondered how Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy do it?

Must just be me.

I don't really know how they'd do it, but I'm sure it wouldn't be kosher.

The specific age of kids who thought Bob Keeshan as Clarabelle was terrific, but who thought Captain Kangaroo was for little ninnies from episode one ( ... )

I loved Mr. Rodgers! masqthephlsphr February 24 2004, 11:02:12 UTC
I named my donky stuffed animal "Don Quixote" after the Mr. Rodger's neighborhood puppet (actually, I spelled it "Donkey-ote").

Come to think of it I believe there was a Donkey Oaty somewhere in this extended family, too.

Wow...I remember that magazine. I had a subscription for at least a few years when I was growing up. I loved Sesame Street, although I always preferred The Muppet Show. 'Cause...ya know...the Miss Piggy crush. When I was a little kid, she was the woman for me.

I am amazed at how much of The Muppet Show sticks with me. Every once in a while, I'll be listening to "Why Can't We Be Friends" and I'll have a vision of the song being sung on a World War I battlefield, with each soloist dismembered in turn by a particularly violent explosion. And I think my inability to take Pink Floyd seriously comes from a conviction that "Another Brick In The Wall" should properly be sung by sheep.

See, I was all prepared to post an amusing rant asking why do you automatically assume it's Ernie rather than Bert that Angel would hook up with ... and then I thought about it. So, yeah, puppet OTP = Angel/Ernie. Because between the puppeteer's hand and that big ol' stick, I'm sure there's no room for anything else up Bert's ass!

And the Ben story? LOVE it!

It's not just that: Bert and puppet-Angel share not only a long face, expressive eyebrows and hair that sticks straight up, but a pessimistic outlook. They're far too similar to slash.

My dad signed me up for the Sesame Street mag until he thought I was old enough for 3-2-1 Contact, which I took till he graduated me up to Penny Power (later Zillions), Consumer Reports for Kids. (Is it really any wonder I didn't know who Madonna was till the '90s, despite living through the '80s?)

Oh, and Ben's getting friended on the strength of that story alone. Hee!

I feel young all of a sudden -- I wouldn't have thought that 3-2-1 Contact would have lasted long enough for you to grow into it! On the other hand, I was peripherally aware of Madonna from "Like A Virgin" onwards.

I can't believe it. Ben doesn't update his journal, he doesn't make comments, he doesn't read his friends page, and he can still be friended by random people!

Dude...I loved 3-2-1 Contact, and I think I'm only about a year younger than anneth!
