Back to Work

So my summer vacation is officially over now.  I am once again a productive member of society.  *Sigh*  It's definitely not all it's cracked up to be. The first few weeks of school are always pretty crazy.  I am trying to get my schedule and responsibilities solidified while getting myself back into work mode (which is harder than you think...being away for a few months).  I had never received my school assignment in the mail this year.  I didn't think that it was a big deal since it has been pretty much the same the last few years: two schools plus additional evaluations and paperwork.  Apparently, a new school has been added to my list.  I did not find this out until this afternoon when the principal of the "new" school told me about it and my face fell right in front of him (very professional).  The only silver lining I can see that might come from this is less evaluations to perform and write up.  I am not holding my breath though.  Right now I am trying to figure out the logistics of being at three different schools.  Hopefully, I will have some sort of schedule by the time I check in again next week.

Now back to better days, an update on my last few days of vacation:
  • On Thursday, Steve and I took the train down to NYC to see "Wicked" on Broadway.  The train ride was nice (much more relaxing than driving).  The show was very enjoyable.  I highly recommend it.  We also did some sightseeing.  We went to a few of the touristy shops in Times Square.  We could see the Hershey and M&Ms shops from our hotel so we definitely had to visit both stores (Who can resist chocolate?).  Overall, we had a good time.  However, I don't think I could ever live in NYC.  It is way too hectic and fast-paced for me.  It was a relief to get off the train in Boston the next day...much less people.  Steve and I met up with David and his mom in the North End for the Feast of St. Anthony.  Great food.  Then we finally headed home.
  • On Saturday, Steve and I headed down to Quincy for Ashton's first birthday party.  Carolyn and I went for breakfast together before the party started.  It was nice catching up.  We haven't done that in a few years.  Heh.  The party seemed to go well too, especially with all the kids.  Ashton is one of the cutest babies ever.  I love his big blue eyes and curly blonde hair.  He managed to stay relatively clean when eating his cupcake too....maybe because there was less frosting than a regular piece of cake.
  • Sunday was an R&R day for us.  Then on Monday, I got my things together for back-to-school and we headed over to the Traverso house for the last BBQ of the summer.  :(  It looks like I am living for the weekends again.
