I haven't been home much this past week. I think I needed a change of scenery anyway. Here's what I've been up to:
- On Friday, we headed up to the condo in NH with Steve's family. We hadn't been up there since last winter. We saw some of the tornado damage on the ride up. It was like nothing I have ever seen before. There was a huge patch of trees and a little shack that were completely destroyed while there was a discount store right next door that looked untouched. There was also an eerie silence among the fallen trees. Jack and Anina met us up at the condo a little later in the evening.
- Saturday was Steve's dad's birthday. We spent part of the afternoon sitting beside the river. The water was a bit cold, but it was nice to wade in. Jack and Anina jumped off some of the larger rocks into the water, but Steve and I decided that we weren't up for it. I guess we are getting old. ;) We went to the outlets when the sky clouded up. Then we had a nice dinner at The Cider House restaurant in Bartlett. On Sunday morning, Steve, Jack, and their dad did some golfing in the rain. I guess they still managed to have a good time. We headed home in the afternoon after a stop to buy some skis for Steve and to get some ice cream at ColdStone. Mmm. Overall, it was a pretty fun weekend and I think that Steve's dad was happy that the family could be there for his birthday.
- On Monday, I headed out to Holyoke to visit my family for the week. We haven't done too much so far since my mom hasn't felt well. Donna came over yesterday and we played Scrabble outside so that was nice. We got torrential rain last night and some of the streets were flooded here. I am going to be taking my mom to see "Mama Mia" shortly (I know I have already seen it, but I really think she would like it and I don't mind seeing it again.). Tomorrow, we will hopefully be going to Atkins for lunch. It's a nice farmstand-type place that has produce, a deli, and a nice bakery. Mom and I used to go there all the time on my way home from college. I don't think that either of us has been there since last summer. On Friday, I am heading home after I drop mom off at chemo. As much as I am having fun, it will be good to get home at the end of the week.
