Well, that was easy. Next question, please.
Although, I do want to talk an animated thing that I love and have extremely fond memories off. It's not a movie. It's not even a cartoon, except it sort of is? Let me explain.
Way back when I was a little kid, on week-end mornings (Sundays for sure, and I think it was also on on Saturdays early on), France 3 had a show called F3X: Le choc des héros, in which they would show episodes of superhero cartoons. It started with three episodes, became two then eventually became three again. They'd show a wide range of cartoons, but the ones I remember are Teen Titans, Justice League and possibly Batman Beyond (? Or maybe it was a timetravel episode of Justice League. I dunno, I usually slept while the first one was airing).
And, of course, X-Men:Evolution.
I have a lot of feelings about X-Men:Evolution (and tiny me had this massive crush on Rogue, that I didn't even realise was a crush, because I kind of also wanted to be her, yanno? It probably won't surprise you to know I had a goth phase later on), but this isn't about that. Only it kind of is?
See, the thing that set F3X apart from the other cartoon shows, was that they didn't just show the cartoons in a row, or have random humans (you're not funny, move, I wanna my cartoons) announce the cartoons. No. Someone somewhere had the absolutely genius idea to recut bits from various X-Men:Evolution episodes, turn them into a framing narrative around the cartoons AND have them redubbed by the same voice actors as the X-Men:Evolution show.
So it ended up feeling like between saving the world and going to school and having amazing adventures, all those super cool people would just sit down and watch cartoons the way you-the-viewer were doing as you were doing it. It was awesome and it felt a bit like sharing the exxperience of watching Sunday morning cartoons with friends.
So I think this is my favourite animated thing.
Favourite animated movie, though? Yeah, definitely Mulan.
Frankly, if you think differently...
