My best friend Jenn had a baby back in October, beautiful little baby Katie.
Jenn has asked me to be Katie's godmother! There was some controversy at first as to whether I could do it or not, being that I'm not a confirmed Catholic. I was baptized and had my first communion, but never got confirmed... After some discussion with the priest, it was decided that as long as one of the godparents is a practicing Catholic, the other can be pretty much anything other than a Jew. And I think I qualify for that.
I think the Catholic church is ridiculous for a number of reasons, but I'm glad to have an "official" role in Katie's life. Now I can officially be "Aunt Sharon". :-) Yay!
