I definitely get the impression that she's writing this story on the fly without much planned out ahead of time, and with the hiatus she's come up with all these ideas that she's trying to stick in all at once. It's been a bit overwhelming, for sure.

Things I want more explanation on:

~Cross's disappearance. I don;t believe he is dead. He is a powerful magic user (the only magic user we've heard about aside form the earl), and they said that the amount of blood loss would kill a human. Interesting choice of words.

~Lavi. It's my theory that he is actually the Heart of Innocence. We still don;t know if he is actually human, what the Bookmen clan are exactly (other than chroniclers of the secret history), and what the eye patch is all about. It's been said their is an eye under there and that it is significant to the story. I want more, please!

~The Noah clan: till now we've only seena handful of them, and now suddenly the whole rest fo them are showing up (and the art style is such that they all sort of lokoalike to me XD). And what was it with the formal ball scene? I really need to hear more about these guys to understand it all better. I thought I had it figured out after the Ark, but now I'm lost again.

~The 3rd side to the war: I have a feeling there is going to be a rebellion against the Order by some of the exorcists. All the dirty secrets are coming out now and I won't be surprised to see Allen and Kanda go rouge (and possibly Lavi and Bookman, though on their own agenda).

Yes.

On Cross- I didn't know he used magic. @@
On Lavi- I don't beleive he's the heart. I think Allen and Lenalee are both the heart. Only they're Innocence has protected them from death. And I can provide an explanation on his eye. He got shot in the eye when he was little, so that's why he wears an eye patch. It's a small spoiler I read about.
I agree with you on the Noah Clan. It's all confusing.

On the 3rd side of the war- I don't doubt it. Kanda was made by and for the Order, so I don't believe he hates them. Allen might betray the Order.

Cross using magic:

PLus he uses some spells on the akuma egg to delay the download while Allen figures out the piano.

I have to disagree about Lenalee and Allen being the Heart. The Innocenece is evolving, which is why Lenalee's becomes the first Crystal type weapon that fuses with her blood to draw power. Remember how she said that before the upgrade, her Dark Boots were always painful and heavy? Lavi, upon first meeting Allen, tells him that no matter how large he makes the hammer, it is light as a feather. His synch rate with his Innocence is seemingly much higher than Lenalee's was given both the ease with which he uses it and the power he holds (hard to say now as he hasn't battled with the hammer alongside of her new boots yet). Plus it has that beautiful paradox where as a Bookman he is not supposed to be attached to anything (on Anita's ship he says he has no need for a heart). Bookman wrns him after Lenalee's crystal upgrade not to synch any further with his Innocence, or they'll be forced to leave the Order to preserve their role an impartial observer. To me, this is totally setting him up to fulyl release his Innocenece and reveal that he is the Heart. Jsut my thoughts on it. :)

Ohhh.

Wait I don't recall that conversation at all. Then how would you explain Allen's Innocence protecting him? It brought him back to life. And I know someone, maybe it was Bookmnan, saying that Innocence had never done that before.

Here is the part about the Innocence evolving:

Bookman does say that the Innocence has never acted out before, but then after the discussion of Crystal type weapons, he also ponders why the Earl hasn't crushed the order yet, and hypothesizes that the Earl is letting the Order stay alive for a reason:

I wonder if he's trying to force the Exorcists to expose the Heart to save him the trouble of looking for it? By forcing the Exorcists to fully release their Innocence like this? They've certainly set the stage for a bunch of power upgrades to take place. I, of course, am totally making guesses here. I'm very interested to see hat happens next!

Ohh.
It's been a while since I've read dgm. It went on hiatus and I got distracted.

I doubt it what would be in it for him?
I'm sorry I'm not very stimulating of a conversation, like I said it's been a while since I've read most of this.

Don't apologize. I am a total nerd who obsesses over manga far too much. ^_^

I think forcing the Order's hand will make things easier for the earl in his quest to destroy the Heart. Why keep searching for it all over the world when he can get the Exorcists to reveal it to him by leveling up? He's already got Allen and Lenalee on the radar now because of this. I'm sure we'll find out in due time. :)

Yeah but what would Bookman care about it? He's only there to watch.

Why would Bookman care about the evolution of the Innocence? I think it's probably simply because it's something interesting to record. If you mean why he cares about Lavi leveling up, it would make Lavi too close to the Innocence/the side of the Order to be impartial - they're already teetering on the line with that anyway masquerading as Exorcists. Is that what you were asking?

Makes me wonder how she plans on ending D.Gray-Man.

But we still love you, Hoshino! &hearts

I know this was written a while back, but there isn't actually a functioning eye under Lavi's eyepatch. I believe that it said in one of the fanbooks that while he and Bookman were observing a battle, Lavi was hit by a stray bullet in the eye, so that's why he ended up with a eyepatch.
