In a not-so-random hallway

[kanda_da]

Kanda is sitting on the floor just outside hammer_echo's suite wearing his prototype uniform with an Allen coat over one arm. He has an empty Mugen-sheath on his back and a plain katana on his hip. It's very hard to tell at first glance whether he's crabby, calm, or distracted.

[Almost trips over him when she steps outside.]

Oh! Kanda? Why are you here?

[kanda_da]

I'm trying to move in.

[lenasxsecret]

Ah, okay. We actually do have a spare room. The little Lavi sleeps with me. I don't like sleeping alone.

So, if you don't mind my asking, why are you moving in? Do you feel lonely?

[kanda_da]

...Yes.

[lenasxsecret]

...I'm sorry. It's such a terrible feeling..

Well, we'll try our best to make sure you don't feel lonely again! Maybe you can sleep with me and the little one, too? My bed is really big so there's plenty of room.

[kanda_da]

...You just invited a Kanda you've never met to sleep in your bed?

[lenasxsecret]

Oh! Was that bad? Should I not have done that?

I apologize... I keep forgetting that the rules are different outside.

[kanda_da]

Bad? That depends. It's weird though. And what do you mean "outside?"

[lenasxsecret]

I guess what I mean is outside my room, outside the Order. They've had me locked away for a long time. Before I came here, I've been outside the Order's walls a total of four times since I was six.

[kanda_da]

[frowns] That's... fucked up.

[lenasxsecret]

I know. I've heard how it's so much different with a bunch of other Exorcist Lenalees, how her brother came... [bites her lower lip then gives him a small smile.] I guess I was just the unlucky version. Anyway, where's your stuff? We should get you settled in.

[kanda_da]

I knew the Lenalee from my world when she was very young. They wanted me to play with her, but she was stuck in a bed and we didn't even speak the same language...

[lenasxsecret]

But at least you became friends, right?

[kanda_da]

[small smile] Yes.

[lenasxsecret]

[There is a slight scent in the air. Very faint, but... odd. Unpleasant, even, if one thought about it too much. Then, it goes away almost as quickly as it came.]

So, that's not everything you own is it? I'll come with you to go get your stuff if you want me to.

[kanda_da]

[Kanda is pretty oblivious, though. He blinks, gives her a strange look, then gets up.]

Okay... [and starts heading down the hallway, waiting for her to follow]
