Really, it's not the wall he's looking at. It's the pictures on the wall. There are framed portraits lining the hallway, with various subjects... and they're moving as though alive. In fact, the one he's looking at contains an Allen reaching into the next frame to try and strangle a Kanda, both of them arguing soundlessly with each other.
His face is a cross between completely bewildered and very, very amused.]
