[There is one resident of the dressing room. He's by himself and standing near a door to a courtyard, mulling over the idea of going out or not. It certainly looks nice enough out but with his track record and exploring so far, he's not ready to take his chances on a whim, on a need for fresh air ( Read more... )

[No.

There are suddenly two hands flat on his back and pushing him out into the courtyard. If he looks back he'll find Lavi trying to get him in there, head parallel with the floor.]

This is not outside!

[The hands on his back catch him off-guard and succeed in their task of forcing the man out in to the courtyard.

Once out and away from the comfort of his door frame, Cross turns to glare at the junior Bookman.]

What does it matter to you if I stay in the doorway or not?

[The younger moves under one of Cross' arms, a hand still on his back and gripping the fabric of his shirt so he won't run.]

You look like you're ill. Sunshine will do you some good. [Worry, fret, worry.]

[Cross tries to move away from the younger man, even if there was a death grip on his coat.]

Stop that, Rene... I'm fine.

[Still trying to pry himself from the worrying youth while doing his best not to lose his cigarette.]

[He's managing to keep a pretty good hold on his coat, not going to slip away unless you take it off.]

You're not fine. You've been boarded up in your room for the past few weeks.

[Well, expect him to be doing that while Aluthia flits about in front of Lavi's left eye to distract him.]

It doesn't matter. I'm a grown man I can do as I please. I don't need a child telling me what to do.

[He's ignoring it the best he can though his hand drops with the coat when left with it. Lavi quickly gathers it up so that it won't get wet from the dew on the grass.]

I'm not a child either. I'm twenty years old.

[The Tease goes back to its master who gets a piece of candy from his pocket to feed it for its attempt to help him.]

But you're still my child!

[Lavi's silver one is still nestled in his hair.]

Regardless of that, I suddenly can't be concerned for your health? Physically and mentally? Tell me, what good then is your child to you.

[Tyki needs to stop giving these things out.]

Why does it even matter to you?! Am I not allowed to just have an off day?

[He took the white one away. Lavi got the silver one a while ago.]

The same reason that it matters to you. [His voice turns cold.] You're my father, aren't you? Family looks out for one another. And you haven't been having just an off day, you've been having an off month.

[There's a small growl from the man at that answer and Lavi's tone.]

Like you even know about what I've been up to lately. You have enough to deal with with Tyki. Kanda too. They're more family to you than me.

Maybe because they actually let me in where as you don't. You try and handle it all on your own, no wonder Allen's stubborn about sharing his burden. You taught him that.

I can't even relate to you with the simplest things because you don't talk to me about anything personal.

I don't try to handle it. I do handle it on my own. I have this long and I still will until I die.

[Never mind the fact he's never sure if he'll wake up the next day with Nea sleeping in his bed.]

Things that happen to me don't concern you. You shouldn't even dwell on them.

[Well. Thanks for making your son feel like he's worthless to you.]

So it's "stay the hell out of my life, but let me pry into yours". Thanks. I didn't get a chance to have it growing up so I guess you're making up for lost time, huh?

[Glaring through his own hurt, tone growing bitter now as well.]

Do what you want then, I'm apparently not wanted anywhere near in the first place. [He tosses the coat on a bench and walks toward the other end of the courtyard where there's another door. He's not storming away like a child at least.] Don't even know why the hell you bothered telling me I was your son in the first place.

[Well fuck.

Cross just stands there, looking as Lavi starts to stalk off.

He didn't mean to... Fuck. Fucking fuck fuck.]

Because you needed to know. That's why I told you. And so you could know about your mother. To know you had family.

[His voice drops a bit, not very loud, almost a whisper, but Lavi always had good hearing. Part of his Bookman training and all.]

I just don't want you upset over things happening...

[Cross turned away from the younger man, moving to ggo get his coat from the bench.]
