[At some point today, you left your room. Even if it was just a quick stop in the loo, you left your room completely unattended for some period of time. That was some poor decision-making on your part, I'm afraid!
Because in the interim, while you were out doing whatever it was you were doing, a small child broke into your place of residence. And now there is a roughed up nine year old in clothing a few sizes too big, carelessly going through your personal belongings in a quest to find anything of value to steal, or possibly eat.
