[He almost doesn't recognize him. Kanda's turning a corner, spotting the blue hair out of the corner of his eye, and then decides, suddenly, that it's best not to go down this hallway and turns around.

He's hoping to god that Madarao did not spot him.]

[Madarao spots everything, and thanks to all those times you snuck away from him, he knows to pay special attention to ponytails disappearing behind corners. Maybe it's a particularly avoidant breed of Kanda. Maybe it's his Kanda. Madarao is going to find out.

[Well, shit. Kanda just keeps walking, just a little tense, a little anxious and annoyed at being followed. This is something he really doesn't need right now.]

[Call it a hunch, but Madarao gets the feeling he's already found who he's looking for. Excuse him while he does that whole mental checklist thing behind you, and does it invasively to make the hair on the back of your neck stand. Bingo. And now he's coming right up to accost you.]

[Well, she can't say she's seen him before. So following from a distance since it's a "Lavi's" job to notice that which doesn't want to be noticed.

[This carries on for at least ten minutes until Madarao finally stops and turns to look right at her, inclining his head slightly in an unspoken 'yes?']

[Tilts her head to the side and smiles in the same infuriating way most Bookman do.] Don't mind me, yeah? Tryin to figure out where I've seen you before.

[Formally, but not cold or dismissive, just stating a fact:] You must have mistaken me for someone else. I am not of your world.

[It's good that Lavi is observant, or he would've missed the Crow. But as it were, the Bookman's eye followed the man, curious.]

[Watch him long enough and he'll start watching right back. Well, this looks like a relatively normal Lavi. Maybe...

[Play it cool. Madarao doesn't seem to recognize him straightaway. Best pretend to be an alternate.]

[Nope, he doesn't, just a whole lot of suspicion at the moment. Bookman, check. His eyes sweep over Lavi quickly, taking note of the way he carries himself, checking for the handle of a hammer.]

[She doesn't notice him. She's heading for the library for once, wanting to research something. She's turning the corner just as he comes down the hallway. He might catch a glimpse of her ponytail rounding the corner but he probably won't get a chance to see much else.]

[Target spotted, homing in! The moment Madarao turns the corner, though, he realises something's off. Several somethings. His charge's shoulders are a little broader than that, for a start, and his hips are most certainly not as... Yes. At any rate, it can't hurt to make a note of all the Kandas present, so he comes up to her anyway.]

[She turns at the sound of her name and is instantly wary. She doesn't know him but she's not comfortable with the Crow. She nods a greeting to him, though.] Yes?

[mottling]

[This is just a little awkward. Madarao has never met a female version of his charge before her.]

...My apologies, honoured disciple. [The title slips out automatically, he's not actually sure if she's an Exorcist.] I mistook you for someone I know.

[Indeed, Lenalee doesn't really see Madarao until after she's passed by. His face is distantly familiar, though; she falters further down the hall and all at once realizes who he is. God, really, DR? Her mouth twists into a frown as she whirls around, terrified for a moment that she's seeing things.]

[Madarao did notice her on his way past, but doesn't really take note of her until she calls out. Out of everyone he's met, she's the first to call him 'Third'.]

[Turns around to face her, checking for anklets... Yes.] ...Honoured disciple. How may I help you?

I... [Goushi. She sees Goushi in her head just hearing the words 'honoured disciple'.] I'm sorry, I h-haven't seen you around this place before-- did you just arrive?

[Studies her for a moment.]

I arrived a few weeks ago, but thought it prudent to keep a low profile until I could get my bearings. Like you, I have yet to meet any of myself during that time.
