[He'll most likely hear her heels clacking on the floor long before she actually reaches the 'board'. Just... wandering around and staring with vague interest-slash-apprehension at the chess pieces and seemingly infinite ceiling. Then she peeks around one of the bishops.] --Oh!
[He does hear her footsteps long before she wanders into view - he actually tries to form a rhythm around her footsteps. It's one thing that he's always loved about his world's Lenalee - her footsteps are always... musical.]
[He tips his head back in order to glance back at her over his shoulder, and hums. Oh! He remembers this one. She's the one he kissed, when she was trapped in the mistletoe.]
Even in this place, I hardly have enough room for a chess board this large. [Glances at the black chess pieces again, eyebrow raised.] Are you up for a game?
They're certainly extravagant, aren't they? [She eyes his General coat with some wariness and steps around the bishop.] Oh, ah, I'm not sure... It'd be awkward playing with pieces this large, wouldn't it?
Probably. [Another hum as he takes a few steps toward a black pawn - the top of it is chest-height to him.] But there's very little about this place that isn't awkward.
And besides. [Gestures with his head toward where she had come from. That door she must have walked through is gone, now, leaving nothing but an empty wall.]
[She glances around curiously. Well, this isn't where she expected to end up today.] Seems like today's going to be an interesting day. I really do love this place, never know what to expect.
I have caution enough. I just won't attack unless I feel you're a threat. [Glancing around, trying to get a better look at the chess board.] Is this the part where we play a game?
[Caution enough. Hardly. Allen has to suppress a scoff at that; it would be rude.] Threats are rarely obvious. Wolves in sheep's clothing.
[The board is expansive, and the pieces massive. He slips his hands into the pockets of his coat, and lets out a low hum.] Unless you can find another way out.
[Because the door you just walked out of is gone, now.]
For a very important date? Also, consider this a warning for TL;DR C:dualmelodyFebruary 13 2011, 19:54:54 UTC
That it has, Adam. [His back is turned to the Earl when he approaches, however the Earl may approach, and there's a distinct stiffness in his shoulders when he hears that voice. Oh, where are his manners? It's been a while, Adam. And so Allen - The Fourteenth - glances back over his shoulder with a look that is almost entirely too pleasant.]
Rest assured, if it was a game of my own device, I wouldn't confine it to chess ♪
[Because The Fourteenth's games are more for the battlefield, not a tabletop.]
[And Allen considers the Earl's standing on the chess board as an invitation to play, and so he turns around the rest of the way and brushes off his gloves.] But while we're here, how would you like to indulge your brother in a match?
Bring it. I eat TL;DR for breakfast!1000year_earlFebruary 13 2011, 23:44:11 UTC
[He stands behind the black pieces his grin widening. The light reflects of his spectacles and the pieces in front of him seem to respond. The eyes of the knights, king and queen all glow a bright red. They begin to center themselves in their squares awaiting commands. For the Millennium Earl would not push these pieces across the board. No. No. He would order them.]
A harmless game. ♥ One made for afternoons in the sun when the weather is warm and fair. It seems a good way to reminisce on old times as any. ♥
[He leans on Relo who for once doesn't squawk or protest.] The white hand is yours which means the first move is also yours. How so similar to how life plays out act after act.
Also, I don't know how to play, so some moves might get... fudged?dualmelodyFebruary 14 2011, 00:40:52 UTC
[Not counting the Fourteenth's previous plans, this is the first time since re-Awakening that he's been made to make the first move. He's not sure if he likes this or not. If there's one thing he's learned since taking over Allen Walker - becoming Allen Walker, because he still is Allen Walker, no matter how much everyone else denies it - it's that plans and secrets are best kept in the dark.]
Now, now. It doesn't do to dwell on the past. ["You've never been good at not doing that," is the unspoken addage. While the Earl's side of the board comes to stand at attention, Allen's remains steady. Calm. None of their eyes glow, but there is the sound of a thousand footsteps coming to attention. They're ready.]
[He saunters toward a pawn at A2, and touches the top of it. The white stone crumbles away, and out steps Yuu Kanda. The Exorcist glares at Allen, and then at the Earl. Despite his obvious dislike for having to regard a Beansprout's orders, he stands at attention.]

You shouldn't wander without a little caution. It's difficult to tell what's around every corner, after all.

[Regardless of the answer he stands on one end of the chessboard. Yes, a game. A game, indeed.]

A4, if you will.
